Statement Why People Agree Why People Disagree
Boys should not cry Because boys and or men are viewed
as the superior sex who is expected
to be strong and brave all the time.
Once boys and or men is seen a
feminine behavior such as this, they
are immediately labeled as weak,
which boys and men does not like.
Girls are bad drivers while boys are Most people disagree because
superb drivers. girls and women tend to be better
drivers than boys because they
are more careful and wise when it
comes to managing the vehicle
and reading road signs.
Boys should not be allowed to play dolls. This is also the same with boys
should not cry because this is in
relation to gender role or sex role
wherein is culturally defined
behaviors between masculinity and
femininity. Here, boy should
manifest masculinity by not playing
Barbie dolls; instead they should
play toy guns and robots that imply
strength and bravery.
Women should be prim and proper. It is People tend to agree with this one
okay for men to be rowdy, they are men because women or girls needs to
anyway. behave properly in order for them to
not get harassed or get in trouble
because they are GIRLS and they are
weak and incapable of fighting for
themselves. While with men it’s
okay to be noisy and disorderly
because it is not expected from them
to know chores, be in order and
proper all the time.

Activity 2

1. Why do people tend to immediately judge a boy or a man if he deviates from the concept of
masculinity?
2. What is the best way to eradicate toxic masculinity?
3. What is the thick line between being a bisexual and a gay?
(I am really confused about this one at times.)
4. Is there a scientific explanation for those people who always claims to have their
“gay dar” always right.
5. What is your message to those individuals who are having constant suicidal thoughts because
of their gender preferences not being expressed and accepted by their family and the society?

I think that these questions are within the scope of gender studies because these are the ones
that I usually encounter and observe considering that I have a lot of friends who are member
of the LGBTQ+ community. These create primitive ideas and knowledge as to analyze and
maintain gender norms and roles to slowly combat inequalities in all aspects of our society.
