    In this reading activity, we are going to read a blog entry from a real

    estate agent.

    1. Quickly read the descriptions of the homes below. Then, copy and
    paste the address of the home under the correct photo:

    2239 Stevens Drive

    I just finished uploading details of this home on the website, and I am really
    excited to tell you all about it! It is located forty-five minutes from the city and is
    far from any neighbours. The rural area contains mostly farms and family
    housing and features lots of trees, rivers, and lakes. It actually has sunnier
    weather than the city!

    The home itself is a three-storey house with four and a half bathrooms. The
    spacious living room has a large balcony overlooking a small lake. The five
    bedrooms are located on the main and upper floors and each have large
    windows with beautiful views. The kitchen has brand new appliances and a
    beautiful sink.
    387-3755 Johnson Street

    This home is in an exciting and lively area of the city so you will never be
    bored living here! It is located close to public transportation, including subways
    and buses and is in the middle of the entertainment centre of the city. The
    building features great facilities, including a games room, bowling alley, and
    gym with a large shared balcony for summer barbecuing.

    The apartment features modern appliances and can be sold furnished. It


    features three bedrooms and two bathrooms and includes nine-foot ceilings,
    giving the apartment a spacious feeling. Great building, friendly neighbours,
    and a fantastic area of the city - what more could you ask for?

    3901 Jones Drive

    This is a great home for buyers who care more about the inside than the
    outside. Located in the industrial area of the city, nearby factories make lots of
    noise during the day, but at night, there is nobody around. Imagine sitting on
    your balcony at night without any noise from neighbours or cars!

    The home is located on top of a paper factory and can be entered using the
    stairs. Unfortunately, there is no elevator, so please keep this in mind. The
    apartment contains four bedrooms and a nice kitchen with great appliances.
    The owner recently added a new washer and dryer to the laundry room, too!
    The apartment also has two bathrooms and a large dining room for
    entertaining guests. This is a great place for the right buyer!
    2. Answer the following questions using your own words:

    a. What are the positive points of the location of this home?

    It has sunnier weather than the city.

    b. What are some activities someone could do in the building while living here?
    Play games, play bowling, exercise in the gym or have a barbecue.

    c. Why does the real estate agent write that the buyer will never be bored living
    here?
    Because it is a very lively area.

    d. Does the apartment include furniture?


    The apartment can be sold furnished.

    3901 Jones Drive

    e. Do you think the real estate agent thinks the apartment looks good from the
    street? Why or why not?
    No, because it is an industrial area.

    f. Why is this home a bad place for someone that works at night?
    Because during the day there is noise from the factories.

    g. Why wouldn’t people in ​wheelchairs​ be able to live here?

    Because there is no elevator, the apartment can only be entered using the
    stairs.

    moving in five days.

    Choose the home you like and continue writing the email below to
    your friend describing the home and what you are doing to get ready
    to move.

    Write the letter in parts. The beginning of the letter has been done for

    James,

    How are you doing? Are you busy with school? How is your family?

    Remember I told you I was looking around for a new place to live? Well, you
    won’t believe it, but I bought the home of my dreams and I’m moving in five
    days. I can’t wait to tell you about it!
    Paragraph Two: Your New Home and Location

    ● What kind of building is it?

    ● What are the good and bad things about the building and neighbourhood?

    Hey I'm glad you're okay, greetings to your family, let me tell you about the department
    I'm interested in. The building is in a lively area, very spacious with modern appliances,
    it features three bedrooms and two bathrooms, what I like about the apartment is that
    transport is close to me, and I can have barbecues on weekends, also the neighbors
    are good vibes, the bad thing is that it would be difficult to rest because it is an area
    that never sleeps, there is always a party!

    Paragraph Three: Moving

    ● What are you doing to prepare to move?


    ● How are you moving? Are you doing it yourself, with a friend, or is a
    moving company doing it for you?
    ● When are utility companies coming to set up the cable and Internet?
    ● What are your your plans for the next few days to finish getting ready?

    The apartment is already furnished so I just have to bring clothes and some other
    things, my girlfriend will do me the favor of taking me in her car, I also hope that the
    cable guys will install it quickly, to be able to rest while watching TV.

    Paragraph Four: End of Letter

    ● Summarize the experience of buying your new home.


    ● Invite James to visit you in your new home.
    ● Good bye.
    Let me tell you that it is difficult for me to rest because there is always noise, but
    in general I do not feel bored, this new lifestyle is very exciting, this weekend I
    will have a barbecue of course you are invited.
    Have an excellent day, I'll be waiting for you soon in my new apartment.
