    Joe Ruhl TED Talk Reflection

    The final “c” Ruhl mentioned during his presentation was creativity. Creativity is the

    most important component of the human mind, teaching and learning. I think this is because

    being creative is how to keep everyone’s minds fresh and attentive, including the teacher’s.

    Adding new components to a classroom or lesson provides new stimuli and lets the brain

    continue to think.

    My biggest takeaway from this presentation was the “Teacher Paradox”. Ruhl described

    the teacher paradox as removing yourself, the teacher, from the center of the classroom. I felt this

    was very important because it allows the classroom to become a student focused environment. I

    felt this created a new perspective to consider when creating lesson plans and teaching activities.

    Allowing students to have more choice in students’ education promotes creativity, which directly

    correlates to an increase in actual learning.
