SPRAYING DRONE WITH CAMERA
1. DETAILS OF PROJECT

HISTORY OF THE FIRST INVENTED DRONE

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) is also known as drones were previously use
for warfighting occurred in July 1849 when the Austrians attacked the Italian city of
Venice. It was created for serving as a balloon carrier in the first offensive use of air
power in naval aviation. Although balloons would not be considered a UAV today, this
was a technology the Austrians had been developing for months before, which led to
further advancements. In 1915, British military used aerial photography to their
advantage in the Battle of Neuve Chapelle. They were able to capture more than 1,500
sky view maps of the German trench fortifications in the region. During the First World
War in 1916, the first pilotless craft had created by the United States, shortly after the
U.S Army built the Kettering Bug. During WWII, Reginald Denny had created radio-
controlled drone, Radioplane OQ-2 which had manufactured nearly fifteen thousand
drones for the Army. Drones were previously known to be an unreliable and an
expensive toy, but in the 1980’s this attitude began to change. The Israeli Air Force’s
victory over the Syrian Air Force in 1982 contributed to this change. Israel used both
UAVs and manned aircraft to destroy a dozen of Syrian aircraft with minimal losses.
Further, in the 1980’s, The U.S created the Pioneer UAV Program to fulfil the need for
inexpensive and unmanned aircraft for fleet operations. In 1986 a new drone was
created from a joint project between the U.S and Israel. The drone was known as RQ2
Pioneer, which was a medium sized reconnaissance aircraft. More recently, in 1990
miniature and micro UAVs were introduced and in 2000 the U.S deployed the Predator
drone in Afghanistan while searching for Osama Bin Laden. Although many of the most
notable drone flights have been for military purposes, technology is continuing to
advance and receive more attention. According to a Wall Street Journal report, the
history of non-military drone use began in earnest in 2006. Government agencies for
disaster relief, border surveillance and wildfire fighting, while corporations began using
drones to inspect pipelines and spray pesticides on farms. In 2014, Amazon proposed
using UAVs to deliver packages to customers and some real-estate companies are
using drones to shoot promotional videos. The uses of drones will continue to grow in
many industries worldwide.

APPLICATION OF THE DRONE

Drone has many applications in myriad of sector such as military, industrial,

photography, commercial and agriculture. Before this, drone first invented for the use in
warfighting, but nowadays drones had improved in their own technology for a lot of
uses. For example, drones is used for aerial photography to capture footage that would
require expensive helicopters and cranes. By using drone, it makes people easier in
making cinematography whether in use for broadcasting live or commercializing
property like house and resort. For instances, DJI Mavic 2 Zoom is the best drones in
2020 for photography. Besides, drone also can use for geographic mapping that
available to acquire very high-resolution data and download imagery in difficult to reach
locations like coastlines, mountaintops and islands. Drones also provide quick means
after a natural disaster to collect information and navigate debris and rubble to find
injured victims. It had high resolution, sensors and radars to give rescue teams access
to a higher field of view and saving the need to spend resources on manned helicopters.
This can give a lot of benefits for disaster management. In drone with presence of
thermal sensors gives it a night vision that makes it a robust tool for surveillance in
search and rescue. This is because it can discover the location of the lost person and
unfortunate victim especially in harsh condition and challenging terrain. Furthermore, it
can able to help them by dropping medical supplies for emergency cases to
unreachable location in war torn for instance. Drones are being developed to provide
entertainment in games for players so that they can be used in fight clubs. Known as
cage match, two contenders and their drones are put up against each other. Instead of
using in games, the drone also be beneficial for creating a stunning performance. There
have been a performances in which several drone have been choreographed to fly at
the same time, creating a “firework display”, filling the sky with luminous RPAS such as
in China in 2017 where presenting its prototype of drone Shooting Star specifically
designed to emulate fireworks with 4 billion colour combinations with LED lights.

WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT THE DRONE?

While drones fill an assortment of needs, for example, recreational, photography,

business and military, their two fundamental capacities are flight and route. To
accomplish flight, drones comprise of a force source, for example, battery or fuel, rotors,
propellers and an edge. Basically, an automaton is a flying robot that can be remotely
controlled or fly self-sufficiently through programming-controlled flight designs in their
installed frameworks, working related to locally available sensors and GPS. There are
various varieties in the casing and development of automatons, however the basic
segments that each automaton must have is a waterproof engine casing, flight and
engine controllers, engines, transmitter and collector, propellers, and a battery or some
other wellspring of vitality. Truly, these little elevated stunt-devils can pack a great deal
of embellishments into their metal or plastic casings. Most automatons are prepared to
fly upon buy. Be that as it may, a few people like structure an automaton themselves
utilizing units. What makes these unmanned elevated vehicles exceptional is their
extraordinary flight ability. Automatons have ultra-stable flight, and they can drift and
perform distinctive tumbling noticeable all around. How far you can fly your automaton
relies upon the space you are flying it, just as the view. You can absolutely fly an
automaton past the line of your sight, yet it builds the danger of harming somebody,
smashing your drone, or harming somebody's property. With regards to business
drones for diversion, they have a short control separate and can fly for only a couple of
moments. Despite what might be expected, the propelled drones which are utilized in
the military or mapping can drift for a considerable length of time noticeable all around
and be controlled from a huge span. Military drones are frequently the most
progressive, and in actuality are an enormous wellspring of advancement in drone
innovation.
2. PROBLEMS REGARDING THE DESIGN OF THE DRONE

There were a lot of design and use of drones whether to use for search and
rescue, cinematography, security, reforestation and cargo delivery. But in my proposed
of the design of my drone is more into use for agricultural field. In agricultural sector,
farmers always have difficulties to keep maintain their fields from any damage like
insect’s invasion or from bad weather. Besides, farmers also need to fertilize their
plantation constantly to provide adequate nutrients to the plant for growth. Sometimes
farmers do struggle to reach certain area on their plantation as the terrain unreachable
for humans. Besides, the farmers also do need to increase the productivity in their
operation such as can fertilize their plantation by covering large area in a short time
while monitoring their field condition through high definition camera. Therefore, by
invented drone with sprayer, water tank and camera this can beneficial for the farmers
to assess, monitor and manage their farm.

3. EXPLANATION ON THE IMPROVEMENTS IN MY PROPOSED DRONE

DESIGN

By having some improvements in a drone, we can help farmers to

optimize agriculture operations, increase crop production, and monitor crop
growth. High-tech drones allow farmers, and the drone pilots that operate them, to
increase efficiency in certain aspects of the farming process. From crop monitoring to
planting, livestock management, crop spraying, irrigation mapping, and more. By putting
a long sprayer in both sides will increase the coverage area of the field during spraying
the fertilizers at a time. In addition, crops require consistent fertilization and spraying in
order to maintain high yields. Traditionally this was done manually, with vehicles, or
maybe via airplane which is burdensome and not cost-effective. Drones that already
equipped with large reservoirs which can be filled with fertilizers, herbicides and
pesticides which by using this method is much safer and cost-effective. For example, if
there’s a fungus breakout in a certain section of the crops, drones can be used to spot
treat the issue. With the speed at which drones can operate, you can diagnose and treat
potential crop issues before they become a widespread issue across the entire farm.
Out from agricultural sector, we also can use this spraying drone by fill the reservoir with
liquid sanitizer where we can use it to the crowd to sanitize them before entering office
department or shopping malls to avoid from this current pandemic, COVID-19 from
spreading. Besides, by adding the high definition camera we can collect information
while the drones are spraying the crops. Farmers can get the bird’s eye view of the
overall plantation to monitor the plant health, current crop life cycle and land distribution.
Crop monitoring also can be done effectively, as drone can provide a holistic view of
crop’s growth enabling the professional to quickly and precisely identified issues. In
terms of power efficiency, we use 2 blades instead of 3 blades for each propeller
because the number of blades affect both flight and efficiency. Therefore, by choosing 2
blades will give you more speed, less amp draws and more efficiency rather than 3
blades.
