Description of Link Africa’s Services

Link Africa offers 2 types of installation – connecting your home

to the fibre in your street:

1. Standard Installation – up to and including 30m of fibre optic cabling

2. Custom Installation – in excess of 30m fibre optic cabling

Standard Installation

1. Link Africa installs up to 30m of cable to the closest practical point

in your home where there is an electrical point (excluding the
garage).
2. The distance is measured from the Termination Box to the
property boundary.
3. This is at a fixed once-off cost of R1500 excl VAT.
4. Link Africa does not do any internal reticulation, this is the
responsibility of the ISP.
5. The ISPs job is to provide a solution to distribute signal inside your
home, this can be achieved through wireless repeaters or LAN
cabling.
Custom Installation

1. A custom installation is required when more than 30m of cable is required to install the
Termination Box. The distance is measured from the TB to the property boundary.
2. Link Africa will create a quote based on the custom installation as per your specified
requirements. The quote is based on an ad-hoc cost per extra metre of cable needed
as well as any logistical work that may be required (lifting paving, drilling walls, etc).
3. You will then need to sign off the quote which triggers the installation by Link Africa.
4. Quote is then sent by Link Africa to its Layer 2 partner who then forwards it to the ISP
who in turn use it to send you an invoice.
5. Link Africa then complete installation and provide the Layer 2 partner with a TOC
(Take over certificate) and Installation Invoice.
6. Link Africa does not do any internal reticulation, this is the responsibility of the ISP.
Your ISP will need to provide a solution to distribute signal, this can be achieved
through wireless repeaters or LAN cabling.
Fibre Ordering and Installation Process

1. You place an order online for a fibre connection.

2. The ISP collects your order and passes it to the Layer 2 partner.
3. The Layer 2 partner passes the order onto Link Africa to schedule
a home drop.
4. Link Africa accepts order and schedules installation, either as a
standard or custom installation.
5. Link Africa provides Layer 2 partner a TOC and Custom
Installation Invoice on completion of installation.
6. Layer 2 partner then installs the ONT inside your home.
7. The ISP then receives confirmation from the Layer 2 company that
they can install services (wifi router or LAN cable).
