1. How can a program/ project manager behaviors bring impact:

a. Productivity of a team;
- No matter what size the team is, managing a team is a tedious task for a program/ project
manager. There will be difference of opinions, insights, and ideas due to different character
traits and managing them while maintaining the team productivity is no easy job. But if
handled tactfully, you can always increase efficiency of your team and hence in turn, the
efficiency of your organization.
The following are the ways as a program/ project manager can do to increase team’s
productivity in an organization:

1. Ownership
Make a team member accountable for his work because this will induce a sense of
responsibility in him. He will start looking at the work with different perspective. This
sense of ownership makes him more responsible towards his role in the organization.
Making him accountable for his work shows that you have trusted him and his
capabilities and that his decision can impact the performance of not only the team but the
entire organization.
2. Team Member’s Strengths and Weakness
A good way to improve team productivity is to realize your team member’s strengths and
weaknesses. In this way you’ll know exactly what kind of task to assign to a specific
employee and you’ll be able to know what best he can do for the organization.
Like, for example, if someone is very good at pitching ideas then you can always
assign him for giving presentation to delegates or clients.
Since a task given to a person will be according to his strength, you can expect
the best outcome and this will be beneficial to the entire organization.
3. Incentives
Anyone who does good work deserves a pat on the back. Incentives are that “virtual” pat
on the back.
It feels so good to have your work and ability acknowledged and rewarded too.
Incentives are a good way to boost your team’s morale and encourage them to do more.
Incentives can be in any form; like cash, lunch outs, free vouchers etc. Appreciating their
efforts in front of whole team can do wonders. This will make them more encourage to
bring out the best in their ability and skills to contribute to the success of the
organization.
4. Good Environment
The work environment plays an important role in increasing team productivity. Nobody
would like to spend maximum time of their day at a boring and dangerous workplace.
The infrastructure and surrounding should trigger the creativeness in them and motivate
to think outside the box.
Also they should never feel like the superior delegates are unapproachable or
dominating. Maintaining a friendly atmosphere is equally important. Each member has
own needs, ideas, and recommendations. If everyone knows that he or she can be heard
anytime, it will increase your chances to hold your people closer.
5. Team Motivation
Projects are often stressful and hectic, hence your team needs constant
motivation, a little bit of cheer, and encouragement in order to keep going. Experts say
that individual and team motivation is the leading factor affecting the productivity of a
team.
Communicate with them; ask them what difficulties they are facing, what can be done to
improve working experience; discuss from concerns to ideas. Encourage friendly
competition, a competitive environment is a productive environment. As a project
manager, employees are going to look up to you. If leader sets an example, employees
will follow and the entire work culture will become more motivating.

b. Motivation to the performance of a team and

- Motivation is very important to a business and its employees. It helps an individual achieve
personal goals. A motivated individual will have greater job satisfaction, heightened
performance and a willingness to succeed. This is enjoyed by the wider team and the overall
organization.
Employee motivation however, is a common concern for many managers.
Unmotivated employees typically spend little or no effort completing required work, often do
the bare minimum without a desire to deliver quality outcomes and regularly avoid workplace
functions or gatherings. Without any spark of creativity, they are less motivated to perform.
Because motivation can inspire, encourage, and stimulate individuals to achieve
common goals through teamwork, it is in the project manager's best interest to drive toward
project success through the creation and maintenance of a motivating environment for all
members of the team.
The tricky part of motivation is that every employee has a different trigger that will
get them inspired and employers need to work hard to identify ways to motivate each person
based on their personal wants and needs.

c. Training for future leaders?

- Effective Project Management is entirely dependent on an individual with great leadership
skills, because without a good leader, a project is unlikely to be completed successfully. The
successful completion of projects is the primary responsibility and goal of the Project
Manager, who will have a lot of weight on their shoulders when it comes to making the right
decisions. One of it is the role of the project/ program managers to train his team
thoroughly and bring out the best of their ability and skills. This will serve as the stepping
stone of every trained team member to be the best future leaders of the future organization.
And so, every program/ project managers should possess the following characteristics to be
precedent by every team member;
 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- It is important for a program/ project manager to have the ability to deliver and receive
constructive feedback and listen to others. Essentially, being a great communicator is a key
element to working well with others in any work environment.
 The ability to share a clear vision and inspire others
- The ability to see the ‘bigger picture’ behind a project and effectively convey that vision to
others is an incredibly valuable and important quality in a Project Manager.
Successfully articulating the vision of a project ensures the team can experience it in
their mind and helps to get them on board without delay.
 Positive attitude and enthusiasm
- A leader with an eternally full cup and a positive mental attitude is a pleasure to engage with
and their enthusiasm automatically rubs off on others.
Being committed to a project and displaying confidence in it impacts positively on
the team and forms the basis of a happy, productive work environment.
 Integrity
- Part of being a great team leader is the ability to gain the trust of your team.
By demonstrating that you are committed to adhering to both your values and ethical
practices in general, team members will soon recognize that you are an honest leader.
 Competence
- When a leader is unable to demonstrate that they are competent and capable, they will be
unable to gain the respect and trust of their team and colleagues.
A team must always feel confident that their leader is in control and knows exactly
what they are doing.
 Cool, calm disposition
- A good Project Manager will never panic or lose their head when things go wrong.
Instead they will remain calm, assess the problem, and find the best way to resolve it,
in order to put the project back on the right track.
 Problem solver
- A great project manager should possess excellent problem solving skills and be resourceful
and creative in their general approach to problems.
 Team builder
- Part of successfully leading a team will involve learning about each individual’s skills and
personality in order to get the best out of the team as a whole.
 Excellent delegator
- Encourage staff to approach you to discuss any queries or difficulties if they need to rather
than undermine them by constantly checking up on them and they will feel more valued.
 Excellent decision maker
- The personal decisions you make as a Project Manager have a direct impact on the success of
a project and ultimately the success of the business itself.
If and when the wrong decision is made, an excellent leader will be able to put their
hands up, be accountable, and take responsibility.

These characteristics should be possess by a program/ project manager to be able to

lead and train the future leaders to have the same traits to be able to produce the best leaders
of the future organization.
