How we can protect the environment

Nowadays, numerous advertising campaigns are carried out to promote the care of the
environment and many organizations continually fight to raise awareness about the need
to protect our planet. For this reason, today I bring you some recommendations on how
we can take care of the environment in our day to day. Taking care of the environment
does not require great actions, but from your own home, you can do many small
gestures to contribute to its protection.
 Separate the garbage. From a young age, it is good for children to learn to
separate waste so that it can be recycled. Show them what is thrown into each
bucket and why it should be done this way.
 Use products that can be reused. Many products can be used multiple times to
protect nature. For example, use cloth napkins instead of paper napkins.
 Turn off the lights. It seems obvious, but we do not realize how many times we
turn on the light in a room that we do not occupy. Get your children used to
turning off the light and when you leave home check that everything is off.
 Eat organic fruits and vegetables. Organic products take care of the environment
because fertilizers or other polluting products are not used in their production.
 Avoid leaving the appliances plugged in. Remember that appliances that are
turned off but still plugged in consume energy, so it is important to unplug them.
 Turn off the taps properly. When you are not using the water, close the tap and
check that there are no leaks.
 Use the thermostat. For both heating and air conditioning, it is necessary to use a
thermostat. Heating energy consumption drops when you lower the temperature
by one degree, and the same happens if you increase the temperature by one
degree in the air conditioner.
 Move in public transport. Pollution in big cities comes largely from cars; use
public transport to get around and you will help take care of nature.
 Take your own bags to the supermarket. More and more supermarkets are
selling plastic bags to avoid their use and encourage recycling. Take your own
bags to the supermarket and you can use them several times.
 Take advantage of natural light. To reduce electricity consumption, open
windows and raise blinds to let sunlight into your home.
 Change the bulbs in your house. Energy-saving light bulbs heatless, use less
energy, shine the same, and last longer.
 Recycle everything you can. Before throwing away clothes, books or toys, think
if you can give them a second chance to avoid spending and buying everything
new. You will save money and protect nature.
 Plant trees. Trees produce oxygen and are essential to nature, so plant a tree at
home or in the community where you live.
As you can see, they are small actions that facilitate energy saving, recycling, and
caring for natural resources.
