The monitoring of the CPI/ICP surveys is going to divide in to Quarterly, monthly, weekly and semi-annually. There
are some areas which need to be corrected in terms of weight and unit of measurement, to mitigate such
problems; there is the need for such training. Mr Abu Bakarr Turay stated that we have International bench marks
to follow, and also thinking about establish a centre in Portloko District now that it has being sub-divided and the
work of the CPI/ICP is critical and it should be treated seriously and it should be given the attention it deserve to
ascertain good result, so we must follow best practice for credible data.

Supervisors and data collector should know that the weight and unit of measurement remain the same only the
price change in CPI/ICP data collection, by changing the product without communicate is one of our challenge we
facing the CPI/ICP data collection, we should also write the name and address of the correct outlet we collect price
from, for Eg. John Conteh Enterprise 11 Circular Road.

Challenges

 Some difficulty in collecting CPI/ICP date collection

 The motor bike assign for the CPI/ICP is not roadworthy
 There is no rain gear for the collection of CPI/ICP date
 Most of the electronic scale are faulty for the collection of CPI/ICP data
 There is no printer and UPS for the printing of CPI/ICP forms to time
 There is no giant staple machine for the staple of the forms
 There is no effective mobile communication

Recommendation

 We recommend radio discussion in various radio station and radio Jingles / also discussion with traders
union leaders in four CPI centers
 An office letter should be made available to staff for easy access of data, in the case of Guma and
SALWACO Water Company.
 It is very important to strength the Statistics Act, so the law will take its course for all those who refuse
to give information
 Mobile top up need to be provided
