c. ANALYSIS

From the activity you had done, what do you

think our topic for today?
- Pronoun Antecedent
Okay, Our lesson for today is all about Agreement
Pronoun Antecedent Agreement.

But first let us know what is a Pronoun

Pronoun- is a word used to substitute a noun it

takes place the name of a person, place or
thing, like she, they, he, them, their, I, me, it,
whom, who and many more.
Noun
Examples:
1. Brandon is observing a
demonstration.

Pronoun He is observing a demonstration.

Noun
2. Dulce is stunning and beautiful.
Pronoun
She is stunning and beautiful.

Who can give another example of a pronoun

in a sentence? - Students give examples.

So much for that, now let’s have Antecedent.

Antecedent- a substantive word, phrase, or
clause whose denotation is referred to by a
pronoun (“ante” means before) usually goes
before the pronoun.

Examples:
Antecedent

When Kris sprained his ankle, Coach Jackie

replaced him with Jasper, a much faster
runner.
pronoun

When children are happy, they clap to express

their pleasure.

The dog is angry and it barks loudly.

I saw an old woman and she is still strong and

pretty.
Very good class!
You have known pronoun and Antecedent
At this time you are going to learn Pronoun
Antecedent Agreement.

Pronoun Antecedent agreement- is when the

pronoun agrees in number (referring to
singular or plural) with its antecedent.

Two rules:

1. If the antecedent is singular, the pronoun

it refers to must be singular.
Example:
Antecedent

 Ronna put her bag on the table

Singular

 Luckily Ana Marie deliver her speech

perfectly.

 The groom took his vows first.

 The boy fell on the tree, so, he had bruises.

Class give another example of singular

antecedent

2. If the antecedent is plural the pronoun it

refers to must also be plural.

Examples:

 John, Lynnon and Jaylord washed their

clothes together.
.
 The group invited me to join them .

 Luckily the Grade IV pupils won the contest

and for that they were so happy.

 Our team wins in the game, so, we celebrate.

Who can give another example?

d. ABSTRACTION

Class what have you learn in our lesson for

today? - I learn that pronoun antecedent
agreement is has two rule the
singular and the plural
agreement.
Very Good!

Now, what do you think is the importance of

Pronoun Antecedent Agreement in Language? - To develop our grammar
- To speak correctly
- To avoid redundancy
Very good!
Let’s clap our hands to everyone because you
participated well in our lesson.

So any questions or clarifications about our topic for

today? - None ma’am
e. APPLICATION
