Yangon

Yangon – Get in
- Former capital of Myanmar, has several access routes as an international airport with direct flights from
Shenzhen, buses from the main cities of Myanmar and train.
- From or to Mandalay, there are daily trains, buses (as you already know), and direct flights of 1 hour and
a half trip with an estimate cost of 750 RMB.

Transportation
- There is a circular train in the city that travels 45.9
kilometers long loop with 39 stations in a 3 hours and a
half trip.
- Not comfortable, but a good experience to see the city and
local neighborhoods.
Yangon – Sightseeing
Shwedagon Pagoda
- It is the biggest and grandest Pagoda in
Myanmar, and is cover by gold leafs, diamonds
and others gems.
- Supposedly was built 2600 years ago, being the
oldest buddhist stupa in the world.
- It is recommended to arrive at 4 and stay until
sunset and witness it at night.

Kandawgyi Lake
- Next to the Shwedagon Pagoda, this artificial lake
built by the british has several wood bridges and
a replica of a imperial barge, Karaweik Palace,
that works as a restaurant.
- It is recommended to in the afternoon.

Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda
-At northeast of the Shwedagon
Pagoda, this place has a 65 meter long
reclining buddha.

Secretariat
-Former British seat of government was
built between 1889 and 1905.

Yangon – Day trips
Kyaiktio or Kyaikhteeyoe Pagoda
- Known as the Golden rock temple, is possible to
go for the day from Yangon by local
transportation, by a 3,5 hours trip to the nearest
city of Kinpun.
- According to Laura is very beautiful.

Dala Village
- Small fishing village across near to Yangon in a
10 minute ferry ride from Panson Pier in
downtown.
- It can be a day trip or a half a day trip.

Inle lake – Get in
To reach the lake firt is necessary arrive to Nyaung Shwe town, from where you can take a boat, sleep, eat,
etc.

By plane
There are direct flights from Yangon (770 RMB) or Mandalay (525 RMB) to Heho Airport, from where you
must take a taxi to Nyaung Shwe, wich cost 150 RMB (it can be splited with other tourist) and 1 hour trip.

By bus
A most cheaper option, there are daily departures to Nyaung Shwe from Yangon (12 hours; 150 RMB),
Mandalay (8 hours; 90 RMB), Bagan (9 hours, 60 RMB), Hsipaw (13 hours; 90 RMB). It’s recommend that in
case of take this option, book the bus in advance to ensure seats.

By train
From Yangon is a 30 hours trip with a 5 hours stop in Thazi (50 RMB) and departs at 11 am.
Inle lake – Sightseeing
Khaung Daing Village
- Can be reached in 45 minutes by bicycle from
Nyaung Shwe.
- The homemade food is the speciality in this
village, specially tofu and a special drink made
with rice and sugar.
- There are a Hot springs on the way.

Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda


- Next to the Shwedagon Pagoda, this artificial lake
built by the british has several wood bridges and
a replica of a imperial barge, Karaweik Palace,
that works as a restaurant.
- It is recommended to in the afternoon.

Doi Inthanon
- This is the highest mountain in Thailand and is a
National Park. It’s located 100 Km away from
Chiang Mai and is a perfect place to do a trekking
and see the Phra Mahathat Napha Pagodas
(picture), waterfalls and a local market.
- It’s possible to do it in 1 day, but there is not
public transportation.

Doi Suthep
- Near to the center of Chiang Mai, in this
mountain is possible to find the Wat Phra temple,
Wat Umong (monk cave) and the winter real
palace.
- You can go by motorbike, public transportation or
bike. In any case you have to climb a few steps to
get to the top.

Chiang Rai
There are several buses per day that travel from Chiang Mai (Arcade bus station) to Chiang Rai, departing from 5:15
to 19:00 hours and with an approximated cost of 120 RMB for express buses (3,5 hours trip) and 55 RMB for the
normal bus (6,35 hours).

Wat Rong Khoun
- The white temple is relatively new (1997) and is
13 kilometers away from the city center, with cars
that can be taken in the central station (5 RMB).
- Maybe kitsch is the best adjective for this temple,
inside you can see a picture of Neo from Matrix,
and a plain crashing the twin towers (?).

Chiang Sen and Golden triangle


- Union point between Thailand, Laos and Myanmar
by the Mejong River. It was an important opium
trade and cultivation zone.
- You can see the Wat Phra That Doi Pu Khao -one
of the oldest temple in Thailand (S. VIII)- the big
Buddha, the opium museum and cross to Laos.
- There are buses from Chiang Rai with a 3 hours
trip (11 RMB).
