Tasks and Activities - Reflection (January 13-17, 2020) – Week 1

- We were asked to answer what we have learned in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, what

excites us most about working in the industry, if we see ourselves working in the industrial setting, and
what our expectations about working as an HR Intern for Coca cola are. I have learned that
industrial/organizational psychologist can be of benefit to business organizations by boosting productivity
and creating a more efficient workplace environment. Companies with coherent business strategies in
place can use psychology to boost employee performance by applying psychological theory to the
organization. Human resource management taps into the different areas of employee recruitment,
selection, and training/development and strategizes how the quality of work life can be improved. What
excites me most about working in the industry is that I will have an opportunity to be exposed to HR
professionals and be able to witness their position of company influence. HR professionals have a strong
understanding of the priorities and challenges of the organization and can influence the future of the
company through the employment decisions that they make. After I complete my Bachelor of Science in
psychology degree, I am planning to pursue a law degree in hope of becoming a corporate lawyer
someday. This career involves the industrial setting as it advises companies of their legal rights and
handles legal issues. My expectations in working with Coca-Cola Beverages Phils Inc. are that I will be
able to gain valuable experience that can enhance my understanding of Industrial/Organizational
Psychology in the HR field. I want to be able to further develop my interpersonal skills, negotiating skills,
and public speaking skills.

- We were tasked to handle the souviner giveaways of the Coca Cola employees and make sure that
we record their quantity and organize them by labels for distribution. It is important to monitor and keep
track of things regarding the employees so that there is proper organization in the company. Another
record we made was the employees' cedula if complete or incomplete. We made use of Microsoft Excel
for encoding which is very useful for keeping track of employee records because of its convenient design
for making tables.
- The Coca Cola employees have planted seedlings on the outside of the office. This is an example
of a company non-related work activity for the beautification of the company outdoor environment. The
HR manager is in charge of activities outside of work and team buildings because they know how to deal
with people and guide them to engage in successful teamwork. We were tasked to make three different 5-
minute activities and team building activities for the Coca Cola employees so that they can use them as
ice breakers during company meetings. Examples are Lost and Sea and Hula Hoops which are activities
that facilitate teamwork and helps work on the employees' communication skills.

- The Coca Cola bulletin board is important in the company because it communicates important
announcements to the employees. It consists of organizational news, employee engagement, human
resources, products, local news, union updates sales, and union updates logistics.
