    Yuri Gagarin was a Russian pilot. He was born in 1934, and he became one of the most famous people in the world.
    Gagarin’s parents worked on a farm in the small village of Klushino. They had a simple life, and when he was 16, Gagarin
    went to work in a factory. At weekends, he used to go to a flying club.
    He enjoyed flying, and quickly became a good pilot, and in 1960 he was chosen for his country’s space program. One
    reason for this was because Yuri was quite short. As a result, he was able to sit inside the small control room of a space
    rocket. He was also very healthy, because he had played a lot of ice hockey and basketball since he was a teenager.
    In April 1961, Gagarin went into space for one hour 48 minutes – the first human to do so.
    After this, Gagarin became a hero, and there were statues of him all over the country. Unfortunately, he died just 7 years
    later in a plane crash. If he had lived just one year longer, he would have seen the first man to land on the moon – Neil
    Armstrong, in 1969.

    Boy: Do you know when we have to finish our homework?
    Girl: The Maths homework? I’ll be finishing it tonight. I want to hand it in on Thursday.
    Boy: Thursday? I won’t have done it by then. It can’t be Thursday, because we don’t even have a Maths lesson
    until Monday.
    Girl: Mr James said that we should give it to him on Friday at the latest.
    Boy: I wish Mr James wouldn’t give us such difficult homework.
    Girl: I don’t think it’s difficult. I like Maths, and I’m never late with the homework. Not like you!
    Boy: Well, if I liked Maths, I would have completed everything on time, too.
    Girl: Anyway, I’d rather finish the Maths homework early, in order to start the Geography homework.
    Boy: Why?
    Girl: Well, that needs to be done by Monday, too. Have you forgotten?
    Boy: It’s time I got back to my work!
