R&D Initiatives: ‘No’ to Cement Sand plaster

1) Gypsum Plaster with Spray machine

Objective: Brief description of the process:

Automating the process of wall plastering High purity gypsum plaster mixed with
retarders is applied to internal walls with
spray machines to get desired thickness.

Major Benefits:

50% Time savings

Better look, feel & finish of the flats
Zero wastage during application
R&D Initiatives: Low/Zero VOC paint with spray

2) Building painting with Spray machine

Objective: Brief description of the process:

Automating the process The Primer is applied with the spray machine
followed by two coats of paints by spray.

Major Benefits:

60% Time savings

Uniform finish without any brush, roller marks

after painting with spray

R&D Initiatives: Low carbon initiative

3) Ferrocrete for swimming pool

Objective: Description:

Economic design , less time The cement mortar mix is reinforced with
chicken wire mesh to form the structure.

Major Benefits:

Any shape possible

Water resisting behavior
R&D Initiatives: Low carbon initiative

4) Lost in place formwork for boundary walls

Objective: Brief description of the process:

To identify and implement an alternate The wall Panels are made using glass fibre
method for boundary wall construction which reinforced water resistant gypsum plaster and
is faster than conventional boundary walls fixed at site using infill concrete at joints

Major Benefits:

Due to its ductile property, has got good

earthquake resistance

Faster construction
Low embodied energy (made from recycled
gypsum)

R&D Initiatives: Low carbon initiative

5) Polymer mortars for brickwork

Objective: Description:

To do brickwork using polymer mortars in Pre-mix polymer mortars are directly applied
place of conventional cement-sand mortars over the bricks to an average thickness of
4mm on sides and top to achieve bonding
between the brickwork.

Major Benefits:

Zero cement
Zero River sand
Zero water (during & post application)
Cost effective
Better bonding strength than conventional
R&D Initiatives: Low carbon

6) Concrete door frames

Objective: Brief description of the process:

To identify an alternative cost effective less Can be monolithic , can be precast

moisture absorbing door frames in place of
wooden door frames

Major Benefits:

Resistance to cracking, Shrinkage

Less Water absorption
Resistance to twisting / warping, borers
Higher strength. NO to WOOD

R&D Initiatives: Conventional Construction

7) Fly Ash blended sand for external plasters

Objective: Brief description of the process:

To identify an alternative cost effective The fly ash blended sand is mixed with
external plaster solution in place of cement in a ratio of 1:7 to make plaster mix
conventional cement- sand plaster, for external walls

Major Benefits:

Less cement required hence cost effective, low

carbon intensive
No impurities, No sieving of sand
R&D Initiatives: Conventional Construction

8) Alternate Floor protectors

Objective: Brief description of the process:
Polypropylene Sheets (250 GSM, 500GSM) in
To identify a cost effective alternative floor place of conventional POP and plastic sheet
protectors which is easy to do immediately
after flooring

Major Benefits:

Easy to install
Tidy work environment
Can be re-used, recycled
Less labour
50% time savings
Got scrap value even after re-use
