ZAMBEZI TIGER CUP 2020

RULES & REGULATIONS

CAPTAIN’S MEETING: Mvuu Lodge Friday 16th October @ 18:00 HRS


COMPETITION DATES: Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th October 2020
VENUE: Mvuu Lodge, Lower Zambezi.
REGISTRATION: Mvuu Lodge, from 16: 30 HRS, Friday 16th October 2020

Competition Rules.

1. Team Event, maximum FOUR (4) Adults + ONE (1) Junior per team.
Junior Age 6 to 16 years old.
2. All boats must be registered with the Department of Maritime & Inland Waterways. This does not apply
to Regional & International boats.
3. Each Team Captain must hold a valid Launch Master Licence.
4. Department of Maritime & Inland Waterway & ZSFA boating safety equipment must be standard on all
boats entered and ready for inspection at any given time, i.e. fire extinguisher, whistle, life jackets,
mirror and yellow flag.
5. Life Jackets are compulsory for all entrants and MUST be worn whilst the motor is running. KILL
Switch’s must be attached to the driver’s life jacket.
6. The Officials reserve the right to inspect, test or examine all boats, fishing tackle, cameras and pictures
submitted as part of the “Daily Catch” to ensure fair play and proper observance of the rules. On shown
a Yellow Flag a boat MUST stop and be boarded for inspection.
7. Any Entrant or Boat refusing a request to inspect, test or examine their boat before or during the
competition shall be deemed to have withdrawn from the competition.
8. NO boat shall leave the prescribed starting point i.e. MVUU LODGE nor shall any competitor
commence fishing before the designated starting time.
9. Competition times are as follows:

Saturday 17th October 2020: Start 06:00 hrs


Finish 17:30 hrs

Sunday 18th October 2020: Start 06:00 hrs


Finish 17:00 hrs

10. A TAG system is in place where by each morning the TAG must be collected by each Captain and
returned BEFORE the official close of the day.
11. All Entrants must sign off their daily catch even if it is a nil return.
12. NO competitors’ boats will be allowed on the river under any circumstances after sundown, either on
the practise day or official competition days EXCEPT OFFICIALS’ BOATS ON A RESCUE
OPERATION
13. NO LITTERING. This includes discarding of tackle packaging, line, etc.
14. Competitors are advised that insurance of individuals, boats and equipment is the sole responsibility of
themselves. The Organizing Committee or Mvuu Lodge does not accept any liability for any form of
loss or damage to equipment, belongings, etc or for any injury to, or death of any competitor.

Competition Fishing and Scoring Rules.


1. All Tiger Fish (Hydrocynus Vittatus) caught will be accepted as part of the “Daily Bag”. However, the following
restrictions will apply:

a. Five (5) fish “Daily Bag”


b. Scoring is determined by the length of the fish from head to the base of fork in tail.
c. The colour category on the provided measuring stick, within the length that the fish falls, will determine
the points allocated to each fish.
d. A clear digital photograph, showing the date, time, TAG and fish on the provided measuring stick, clearly
showing the fish’s head and fork of tail, on the stick and the colour that the length of the fish falls with in,
ONLY will be excepted by the Weigh Master.
e. The five (5) longest fish’s points will be selected towards the overall catch for the day.
f. A total of ten (10) Tiger fish will count overall for the Competition, five (5) per day.
g. The Event is strictly a “CATCH & RELEASE” Competition. No TIGER FISH to be brought back to the
Lodge.

2. Fishing boundaries are as follows:


Eastern boundary is the Chongwe River Mouth. Do NOT enter the Lower Zambezi National Park. Shots
will be fired!!!
Western Boundary is the bottom end of Nyakasanga Islands
3. Each Team must have a digital camera and pc cable, set to show DATE & TIME. Cell phone photographs are
acceptable.
4. ONLY fish caught during the competition, using rod, line, natural and artificial baits during the prescribed hours
will be accepted for the purpose of the competition.
5. No chumming is permitted and any team found chumming will be disqualified from the Event.
6. ONLY ONE rod, line and lure per competitor may be used at any one time during the competition. Spare fishing
equipment will be allowed.
7. Points will be allocated equivalent to the colour category that the length of the fish falls in, from head to fork of tail.
8. All fish caught to the above specifications will count towards the TOTAL POINTS i.e. the winning Team will be the
team with the highest total number of points over two (2) days.
9. Entrants arriving late will be penalized ½ A POINT FOR EACH MINUTE LATE.
10. In any dispute, the decision of the Committee shall be final. NO PICTURE MAY BE CHALLENGED AFTER
THE OFFICIALS AT THE WEIGH-IN OFFICIALLY RECORD IT AND THE INDIVIDUAL HAS
SIGNED OFF THE POINTS CARD.
11. The Committee will officiate in any dispute arising during the competition and reserve the right to amend, cancel or
establish new rules, which are deemed to be in the best interest of the competition.
12. If any Individual wishes to use any other equipment or method of fishing not covered by these rules, (which may
raise objections during or after the competition) the Officials approval should be sought prior to the start of the
competition. This being in the best interests of all concerned.
13. Any competitor who contravenes any of the general or specific rules of the competition or wilfully contrives in any
way to unfairly or unnaturally increase the size of his/her catch, or acts in any manner not in the interests of this
fishing competition, shall be totally disqualified and shall not be permitted to enter any future fishing competition.
The rights of acceptance of any competitor/s are reserved by the Committee of the Event.

Scoring & Measuring System

A. Measure fish from the snout of mouth against the


measuring board to the fork of tail.
B. The colour showing at the point of the fork in tail will
determine the points awarded for the fish.
C. The Team Tag must be placed on fish’s body and be
included in the picture.
D. Photograph must show DATE & TIME
E. No cell phone pictures.
F. Any discrepancies, unidentifiable photographs will be
declared as a nil entry.
