Week 5 Reseach Strategies
A high quality and well-written research proposal is indispensable most especially when vying
for research grants. A well-designed research design is reflected on the quality of the research proposal.
A strong proposal should be persuasive to ear a nod of grant organizations , therefore, proposals
are expected to be of high quality and to demonstrate feasibility.
5. Establish your credentials, qualifications, and expertise, and create an excellent research track
record.
6. Draft a solid and an effective review of related literature to demonstrate that your proposed
study is feasible.
Introduction.
It contains the background of the study, its potential significance or contribution to existing knowledge,
and its scope and limitations.
2. How important is the problem? What is the potential impact of being able to resolve the
problem?
3. How extensive is the work done in line with the purpose of resolving this problem?
4. What are the key issues and concerns that are still unanswerable?
5. Is your research problem the next logic step? What are your expectations and the anticipated
results from the proposal?
8. What are the limitations of the study? How will this affect the outcome? Are the limitations
reasonable enough if compare them with those other studies?
(The introduction is written in the present or future tense, unless about the results of other studies which
is in the past tense.)
This gives details of the planned research approach to address the research questions.
Experimentation is undertaken to establish cause-and-effect relationships among variables. Variables
are factors that can be manipulated and measured. Independent variables are manipulated and
subjected to experiments, dependent variables are observed upon the subjects after they have
influenced by independent variables.
Treatment of data using statistical analysis is important in your study. This is also included in the
methodology.
References
A strong research proposal is built on the strength of your citation. The title of the proposal is equally
important as it should catch the attention of the readers or reviewers.
Proposed Title
The title of the research proposal usually comprises 12 to 15 words. The title must be suggestive of the
purpose of the planned study and the overall goal of inquiry. It should be specific and self-explanatory.
Use words that denote novelty, innovation, or breakthrough. Do not use flat phrases such as “The
study of . . .” “The effect of . . .” and “Investigation of . . .” as they imply weakness and lack of depth.

Budget Proposal
A budget proposal accompanies a strong research proposal. The extent o the activities of
research shall determine the approximate financial support that is being requested.
The budget proposal shall include payment of personnel services (salaries, honoraria, etc.), cost
of equipment and maintenance and operating expenses (supplies, publications and report preparation
costs, travel expenses , overhead costs and others). Anticipated cost should commensurate with the
nature of activities and expected outcome of the proposed study.

Evaluate your personal life and daily experiences, then determine which aspect of your personal
life would merit i-depth resolution, that I a goal, issue or a concern that can be addressed over a certain
period of time. Reflect of the following questions:
2. What are your plans and approaches to achieve your goals and objectives in life?

4. Research problem
