TITLE: IN-SERVICE TRAINING WORKSHOP ON ACTION


RESEARCH

RATIONALE:

Research places a great importance in today’s educational scheme


as it helps us find an empirical baseline in addressing the problems
and gaps encountered in the teaching and learning process geared
towards the holistic development of the learners. Knowledge in
conducting research would also mean the ability to find valid and
reliable solutions to an existing learning gaps of the students.
Teachers as primary movers learning should be equipped with
research competencies deemed necessary in their teaching
endeavours. As the Division Planning and Research Unit
continuously boosts teachers research knowledge and information
in the research and conferences, it is also imperative that the
school level should organize research training that will provide
relevant knowledge and information in research arena beneficial
for their professional development. Anent to this, action research
training is an opportunity for professional advancement beneficial
for them especially for the learners in such a way that they will be
able to address appropriate answers to their learning needs and
thereby allowing them to improve their academic performance in
varied learning areas. Thus, it is in the premise that this action
research should be conducted for teachers.

TRAINING OBJECTIVES

Participants of this in-service training workshop are expected to


acquire the following competencies:
1. explain the importance of action research in the
teaching and learning process.
2. differentiate action research to other types of
educational researches.
3. explain the different parts of action research.

4. identify the researchable problems/ topics acroos


disciplines
5. formulate action research questions/objectives
6. evaluate related literatures and studies
7. choose appropriate research methodologies and designs
8. explain various data gathering procedures and
techniques
9. appreciate the value of research in teaching and
learning
10. craft a workable action research proposal.

expenses after this training which will cover the snacks and lunch of the participants for
three days including the tokens and honoraria for the resource speakers will be charged
to school’s MOOE fund subject to proper auditing and accounting procedure.

EVALUATION AND MONITORING


In order to attain efficiency and effectiveness of this in-service-training worksjop on
action research, the resource speakers, school head shall:

1. ensure active participation of all participants


2. monitor progress and completion of all workshop outputs for every activity;
3. conduct self-assessment and feedback forms from the participants
