International Report:
SABU: Committee has assisted with design of a water
pump for a village in the south of the island. Pastor Franz
has secured funding via donation from a source in Java.
Pastor Franz has advised that all funds sent last financial
year for student support have been utilised for the 80 stu-
dents in Kupung. Food alone costs AUD1500 per month
and they must also buy water and other essentials. We
currently have $2500 budgeted. These funds will be trans-
mitted to the Sabu bank account.
Then Mark talked about his cancer fight his five month
battle with stage four bowel cancer.
Diagnosed in December2018 , the former golfer and radio
host urged others to get checked. He was scheduled for
a colonoscopy in late January 2019 but a lucky meeting
with a cancer specialist at the golf course resulted in a
checkup within days. If he had waited he may not have
survived as the cancers in his rectum and lungs were so
advanced.
“The warning sign unfortunately was way too late, they
suspect I’ve had a tumour in my rectum for three and half
years.
“You can’t just hide and hope.”
