3. Empirical Functions for Surface Tension

A. From the plot, we can get a polynomial function:

σ[T] = 4*10-14T6 – 1*10-10T5 + 1*10-7T4 – 6*10-5T3 + 0.0172T2


- 2.78T + 275.75

B. For temperature from 0 to 40oC, a simple expression:

σ[T] = 76.10-0.155T.

C. An interpolating equation from a paper:
