Answer the questions below.

1. Was the goal of the speaker to communicate achieved? Why or why not?
 No, because she was not able to achieved her goals or explain her point that
much. Effective communication requires forethought, especially when the
target is a public audience that you don’t regularly speak to. Without correct
context and organization of her content, the listener would really miss or worse
misinterpret her message.
2. Looking at the communication process, what might have been the cause of the
speaker’s failure to communicate well?
 In looking at the speech of Kim Chui, the cause of her failure to communicate
well is due to her emotion. When she delivered her message about the "Law
of Classroom" it caused emotional disturbance to us listeners. Besides, she
has difficulty expressing her ideas that's why she could not explain her point
that much where the listeners could understand.
3. What do you think could the speaker have done to eliminate the problem/s that
occurred in the communication process?
 To eliminate problems while talking to her audience or listener she must
possess sufficient knowledge of language to express using appropriate words
especially in giving examples. Also, she should state her message in a
manner that would avoid emotional conflict.
4. What can the audience/listener do so that the problem that occurred between him/her
and the speaker can be resolved?

 The audience or listener can do to resolve the problem is to:

 Listen to understand.
 Accept that what the speaker is saying is true for her. Respect others’ feelings.
 Repeat for clarification.
 Find a point of agreement.
 State or restate her opinions.
Evaluation: Share one (1) successful and one (1) not-so-successful communication
experience you had. What do you think are the factors that made it a success? a
failure? In what way is this lesson helpful/not helpful to you and your future career?
Afterwards, make a slogan on how the knowledge of communication process, principles
and ethics aids people in communicating effectively.

 My successful experience in communication before when we had our

debate and my unsuccessful communication before when I was about
to buy paint instructed by my father. The factors why my debate before
is a successful one because I was able to prepare all the ideas and
concepts that we need in the discussion. I developed my self-trust to
fight my side and listen twice as much as I could before speaking again.
Also, asking questions to my opponent showing my interest in their
ideas. On the other hand, the factor of my unsuccessful during that time
is miss-understanding of what the color of paint I should buy. I don't
hesitate to ask a question or clarify things to ensure what I've heard is
correct before I go to the hardware.

 The lesson is helpful to me in my future job because being a good

communicator helps me to explain my ideas to others in ways that make
sense and are easy to understand. I will be able to tell my supervisor
what I need to do about my job well. It will also help me to be able to
talk with my co-worker to make sure we are all working together for the
good of the company.
