Do you think the Philippine government's response to this COVID-19 pandemic is enough to

mitigate its effects to the health of the people and the economy?

The Philippine government with the leadership of our President, Rodrigo R.

Durterte mounted a multi-sectoral response to the COVID-that aims to contain the spread
of COVID-19 and mitigate its socioeconomic impacts through the Interagency Task
Force or IATF and National Action Plan (NAP) on COVID-19. These agencies have
imposed lock-down of the entire Luzon island and are mulling over more localized lock-
downs. The Philippines government also declared a state of calamity in the country for
six months.

However, despite the efforts of the government to contain the spread of the virus
through initiating lockdowns in areas affected for more than 6 months, the virus’s
potential to evolve in a nastier direction or, if we’re lucky, become more benign is still
unclear.

All though we were be able to survive and not getting infected by the viral infection
because of the program initiated by the government during at this time, I can see that
their response to the pandemic cannot alleviate the life of the people and our society for
the following reasons;

1. There is no direct plan on how to eliminate the virus in our country. The
Department of Health has no clear strategy and policy but just waiting for
the vaccine to be available in the market.
2. Our health system is not even prepared to handle patients affected by the
virus and;
3. Our Government should focus on the solution and not on the problems
instead.

As a result of the inadequate plans, programs, and strategies, our economy knocked
out household consumption with the economy shrinking. Thus, for me, the response of
the government is still not enough to mitigate the life of the community. As long as there
is no cure and treatment offered by our government, our economy will suffer and so as
the people.
