HANDOG NG MISA

I was reared with the belief that everything starts in the family, when we were born we are in the
shelter of our family, that means as we grow up we were immerse in their guidance and on what
they teach us, so when the time comes for us to face the world outside the family we know how
to act and how to face them. And a child’s behavior reflects to what behavior they family has.
Knowing the importance of mass and the importance of attending it was taught to me by my
family and from then until now I have those teaching and I value it, it already rooted in my
whole being.

My grandmother is my greatest influence when it comes to praying every night she always make
sure I got to pray and even in attending masses every Sunday and every Sunday passes by I got
to understand the importance of attending masses. It is the time of the week to dedicate to our
Lord and it will also serve as a family gathering or tradition since every part of the family attends
the mass because we equally understand how important it is. When I was still a child I also had
several reasons regarding masses like why it takes almost two hours why is there different parts.
But those questions were answered.

The Eucharist is part of our ordinary lives. We are gathered together equally and we are binded
by His love. As long as we gather during Eucharist He is with us. I can still remember that the
sign of the cross is the first thing my parents taught me, when they are starting to make me knew
about Jesus. The cross that shows He saved us.

At an early age they taught me to go and attend mass whole heartedly, I should want to attend
mass not just because they told me to do so. Forgiving is one of the hardest thing to do, some
claims that this is true and I also believe in this. What I learned through my experiences is
forgive even they are not sorry because if you don’t, it is just you who will not achieve
happiness since there is something holding you back from having that kind of life. Going to the
house of Jesus with something that causes us grudges towards having a genuine happy life that is
full of love is not likely for us to do. Before we face Jesus through the Eucharist we must purify
our hearts and minds.

As we open listen to the readings we can have deeper understanding and that will be a part of us.
It will be part of our minds and hearts. Before, I have a belief that everytime I attend mass I
always hard time listening to the readings and homily because I easily got destructed in some
happenings inside the church like those babies crying, children running all over the church. But
as I grow up I managed to listen even what destructions I may have since through the readings I
got to know and familiarize myself in the different stories in the bible and I got to relate it in my
life as the priest doing the homily. After a mass I always make sure I can remember something
about the readings for the betterment of myself and my faith.

Mass is for everyone, everybody can participate that I when I realized that my prayers should not
just revolve on myself and to my loved ones. And When we pray the first thing we should

always seek is forgiveness of all that we did through words or in our deeds. I should also pray for
everyone, for their health, safety and that what they are praying be granted in His perfect timing
pay for them regardless of who and what they are. That is what I also learned, to pray for
everyone and to wait for the perfect timing , learn to wait and while waiting the faith should not
be questioned and tested but rather I learned how to deeper my faith as I wait for my prayers to
be answered. Learning how to count the blessings that I have rather that counting those I don’t
have is also a must for me.

Giving is another point why I do not understand fully before, we are a family of farmers so every
after cropping we never failed to give a sack of rice to our parish , offerings are also there in
every mass. But that helped me, it helped me to know the importance of giving. so as much as I
can I give. Charity really begins at home.

The Communion Rite is what I always anticipated when I was young because through this I can
have the body of Christ. So when I already had my first communion whenever I attend mass I
always make sure I took the communion. The bread and wine which is very familiar to all of us
when it comes in taking the communion because through this it depicts offering oneself to God
and the others and the oneness to God and others.

Ama namin was the song in the mass which I memorized first, and we sing it while holding the
hands of the ones beside us. For me it means a lot because it depicts that whoever beside you, the
fact that you have the willingness to take their hands without hesitations an image which God
loved and saved us regardless of who we are pops in my mind.

Telling individuals “Peace with you” is greatly appreciated for me, since by that we all have the
same wish and that is peace. Wishing that to someone somewhat tells me that “I always wish you
to have a life with no worries , just love”.

Having the Sacrament of Eucharist every Sundays is a huge help in strengthening our faith and it
is also our thanksgiving and . We go to church offer ourselves and celebrate Eucharist.

THE EUCHARIST:OUR COMMUNION

As we go on to our lessons we come up with different stories in the bible like the story of Jesus
sharing a meal with his disciples, breaking a bread and drinking of the same cup and in a Lenten
Season through the film “ The Bible”, I got to see how Jesus did it.

Breaking a bread and drinking of the same cup both are signs of communion, in the last supper
Jesus left a testament that is memorialized in every celebration of the Sacrament of the Eucharist
every mass the priest utters the very words of the Lord to His disciples.

I also asked myself why we have the Sacrament of Communion?, why everybody participates in
that rite?. But it was answered because of communion we Increases our union with the Lord, It
forgives our venial sins and preserves us from grave sins and Strengthens our bond of charity
with Jesus and when I also encountered the verse John 6:56 “He who eats my flesh and drinks
my blood abides in me and I in Him. “

Receiving the body and blood makes us share in the very life of Jesus and keeping us united with
him. When I was a child my curiosity deepens every time I see our priest breaking the body of
Christ and drinks from the chalice. As I grow up I realized that we go to church with the same
vision and that is to celebrate the Eucharist and by this we become united , we are one. that is
why there is only one bread because it symbolizes us being one. That one bread is for us who are
in one. I also realized why we were called brothers and sisters because just like a siblings we
come together as one because there is something that we have in common and that is our faith
towards Him.

Usually in a mass we were seen as a community, a group of people regardless of their

background and class as long as we come together with the same purpose. A communion with
Jesus is also a communion with the community. When we receive the communion we are also
receiving the oneness of the community.

Through years of receiving the Holy Communion I learned that as an individual, receiving Jesus
is important because it reserves, unease and reuse the life of grace that we receive from our
baptism. I regard baptism as “enlightenment” because we received the word of God in Faith and
by that we become children of light. Because whenever we take the communion with Christ that
leads to our renewal and conversion it strengthen our charity that takes away venial sins as it
helps us transform to be like Him that is full of mercy and love.

Above all I can conclude that communion is really essential to us Christians as it may give us the
unity of the church.

The Eucharist: the Memorial of Christ

In every celebration of the Eucharist the priest repeats the words of Jesus during the Last supper.
“Take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up by you”“Take this
all of you and drink from it, for this is the chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal
covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins, do this in
memory of me

When I was a child when attending a mass I always hear those words uttered by the priest when
He prepares for the Communion without knowing that those were the words of Jesus during the
last supper. Until when I already knew about it I realized that Jesus really would know what will
happen, and still He is willing to do it and risk His own life in order for us to be saved. So from
then I appreciated more those words, and the process when the priest prepares for the
communion. And after taking the communion I always feel happily and fulfilled as I took the
part of Jesus through Communion.

“Do this in memory of me” is the line that really justifies all His passion. And it is also the
important character of the Eucharist. Eucharist is a memorial” which pertains that it is a keeping
of memory but I asked myself again What memory? What memorial?

According to Catechism, it tackles about the Memorial of Christ of His Life, of His Death of His
Resurrection and His intercession with the presence of the Father.

It is the memorial of Life in which we see God as everlasting love and mercy. He became one
like us except sin but he loved sinners. He is not a sinner but yet He had his baptism which only
implies that He regards himself as one of us. From that moment I can already conclude his

humility is overflowing. According to Matthew, He treated the wounds of people by welcoming

them as His friends Eating, conversing and journeying with them.

Memorial of the merciful Lord who walks with us.In the Lord’s life we see the face of the Father
who is mercy and love. . And everyone of us is lucky to experience the love, mercy and His
humility. Everytime I remember those my heart is Filled with so much hope.

In the Memorial of His death, a very familiar scene during His passion is when the soldier
pierced the side of Jesus that caused blood and water gosh forth. From Saint Foustina’s mystical
experience Blood and water were form the very dead of His heart. A heartbreaking truth for
anyone of us, that is another reason for me to appreciate and deepen my faith as He did what He
needed to do for us.

And In His crucifixion, through his Pierced heart we are receiving His outpouring Mercy not
retributions. it will always be remembered that Mercy is the greatest attribute of God. God really
has mercy.

Triumph of God over sinned and death implies that Jesus is victorious, to the point that it s death
that was destroyed in his dying and in His rising. Because He surpassed it.

Lastly, Memorial of His intercession according to St. Paul, like what we know in the creed, Jesus
seated at the right hand of the Father, interceding pleading for us. Jesus himself prays for us so
that we may be one as He and the father as one. His willingness to save us still prevailed after all
what He had through.

To top it all, Eucharist brings about unity and peace. As we were able to fully understand all
about the Eucharist.

The Eucharist: Thanksgiving and Praise to God the Father

As I go on watching these videos and even in a daily basis , I always encountered the word”
Eucharist” . to be more familiarize, it was derived from the greek word, “Eukharistia” that
implies “ Thanksgiving”. A very familiar word which most of us do when we are attending mass,
and even in praying, we always seek thanksgiving for the life; the chance to live everyday, my
family; whom gives strength to me to face the challenges that I may have and love from
everyone that I know which gives me reason to love and give more, we always offer
thanksgiving for everything that we have. It is already our nature to have thanksgiving.

Knowing that the Eucharist means a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving for the work of
creation . We are moved to thanksging because in remembering Christ, we are also remembering
the sacrifice of love that renewed us and the whole of creation . His unique sacrifice already
rooted in my being , because His unique sacrifice means giving His own life his life, culminating
on the cross.

What I had understand from Pope Francis is that , when we are having Eucharist it also means
that we are in supreme thanksgiving to the Father. Our Father who loved us so much to the point
that He gave us Hi only Son because of his love.

In this world nothing is perfect we can’t have everything at the same time, every individual has
their own battles and mostly we have different battles to face. These may lead to
misunderstandings, injustices those hindrances us from having peaceful life. But we don’t know
is that Jesus, reconciled all things, all of creation, to Himself. Making peace by the blood of the
cross.

Everytime I attend mass I always thank god by His love and Mercy. For his unending mercy that
even have flaws and even if I sinned He still forgives and accept. His love is pure and his love is
poured towards individuals that believes in Him. I trust the process, I cannot have enerything in
life. I learned to count the blessings and always be thankful about it.

Eucharist : His Presence

After viewing all the videos Eucharist was explained as the communion of the church, the body
of Christ and the Memorial of Christ’s sacrifice.

I realized while growing up that Jesus is always with us. He was with us, he has now and He will
have us as long as we live. He is never away because He is always remembered and felt as we go
on to the Eucharist.

He has many ways to be with us, like for example in the Eucharist, his presence raises Eucharist
above all the sacrament. As the perfection of the spiritual life and the end to which all the
sacraments tend.

I always repeat it to myself that the Whole Christ is truly, really and substantially contained.
Since it starts with us, his presence is a substantial presence which regards Christ, the God of
man makes Himself wholly and entirely present. Even just two or three individuals gathers in
his name then He is present to the Celebration.

In the celebration of the Eucharist , he can be present by the presence of the priests who acts in
His person and His name. and other proof that He is present is through the Liturgy of the word.
He speaks to us by the Holy Scriptures, that the scriptures speaks all about Jesus and about all
that is connected to Him.

And just like when we eat the bread for the communion which enable us to receive the body and
blood of Christ. He is also present in the Eucharistic species of the bread and wine. Why ? How
did this happen? That is a question of mine a year ago. Until the term “ transubstantiation” was
introduced by our Rel 102 Teacher. Which means that it is the change of the whole substance of
bread into the substance of the body of Christ , and the change of the whole substance of wine
into the blood of Christ. From then I had the answer that I need.

It also answered my question, how come bread and blood became the symbol of Christ;s Body
and Blood.

I discovered something new from watching and I also rediscovered concepts that I already
forgot. This will surely help me to improve my faith and improve my appreciation to the
Eucharist.
