INSTRUCTION:
ANSWER ALL QUESTION. GIVE A DETAIL SOLUTION ON EACH QUESTIONS.

Due date : 30 May 2019 (Wednesday)

1
Problem 1: Entering data to the level book

Figure 1 shows the consecutive readings were taken with a levelling instrument from T1 to T12 and
closed back to T1.

Figure 1

By using a Leveling Form, enter the readings and find the RL of all points by:
1. The Height of Collimation, and
2. The Rise and Fall method.
3. Apply the Arithmetic checks

Problem 2: Reduction levels of missing readings.

A page of a level book with some missing readings is reproduced in Table 1 below. Fill in the missing
entries along with the necessary arithmetical checks.
Table 1

Problem 3: Problems on obstacles in measuring

Figure 2 shows P and Q are two points 517 m apart on the same bank of a river. The bearing of a
tree on the other bank observed from P and Q are N33° 40’ 00”E and N43° 20’ 00”W, respectively.
Find the width of the river if bearings of PQ are N 78° 00’ 00”E.

Problem 4: Problems on latitude and departure.

Table 2 shows a measurement of traverse leg which include bearing and distances. By using a
Latitude/Departure Form, calculate the coordinates of each traverse station.

Problem 5: Problems on WCB and QB bearings

Figure 3 shows a CF with the length of 44.442 m and a bearing of 312° 40’ 50”. Calculate the
coordinates of F if those of C are N -2431.000, E -6112.500.

between the survey line and the lot boundary by the Coordinate method.

6.2 Consider an excavation is to be made for a reservoir of 45m long and 35m wide at the bottom.
The side slope of the excavation has to be 1:2. Calculate the volume of the earth work using
Prismoidal (Simpsons) formula, if the depth of excavation is 5 m.
