ABSTRACT

• To generate the electricity with the help of VAWT (Vertical axis wind turbine).
The VAWT is Use for generate the D.C. Power.
• A VAWT does not nee to be oriented into the wind of the power transition
mechanisms can be mounted on ground level for easy access.
• For generating the power it is depend on the velocity of the wind But we assured
that VAWT is generate generate the fixed D.C. output which is depend on the
velocity of the wind.

INTRODUCTION
• History of wind turbines dates back to 7th century in Afghanistan, 9th century
• in Persia [1] followed by the introduction of HAWT around 12th century in
• Europe. Despite notable innovations do happen afterwards, it was not until 1970,
wind turbines are recognized for power generation during the energy crisis
• The need for alternative energy, other than fossil fuels and the exponential
• growth in the energy demand has sprouted interest in the development of wind
turbines in the past years.

MATERIALS SELECTED
• We choose ALUMINIUM ALLOY (AL) material to manufacture the Turbine blades,
because it has low density, good corrosion resistance , high strength & stiffness.
• Wing holder - Mild Steel (MS)
• Shaft – Mild Steel (MS)

7
SCOPE FOR FUTURE WORK
• The efficiency can be increased by precise fabrication of prototype and also by
designing the
• blades of the turbine more aerodynamically and use simulation software like
CFD. The development
• of effective alternators and dynamos can be used to harness wind energy from
relatively small winds.
• The use of materials like Acrylic Plastic Sheets can be used to develop low cost
VWAT.

8
CONCLUSION
• Our work and the results obtained so far are very encouraging and reinforce the
convictionthat vertical axis wind energy conversion systems are practical and
potentially very contributive tothe production of clean renewable electricity from
the wind even under less than ideal sitingconditions this project will be helpful in
rural areas where the electricity supply is scarce. Also inmost cities, bridges are a
faster route for everyday commute and in need of constant lighting makesthis an
efficient way to produce energy
