The emotions of how he felt is very explained in the dialogue. Alexander exclaims
throughout the book that he is not moving and making sure everyone hears how
serious he is. Sentence lengths are not too long it gives real meaning on how it feels
when he is going through his process on moving. There not much rhyming and
rhythm just explanation.

Alexander
Not wanting to go through change, moving is not easy and kids having to leave their
normalcy even going to a different grade and classroom and Alexander is moving
home and towns. Wanting to be heard when you’re not happy about something
everybody wants to be heard.
His family member, friends and neighbors his is moving away from.
Change is okay you can express yourself but sometimes change such as moving needs
to happen, that once trying new things and meeting new people is okay. Embrace the
change and be flexible in your own way of change.

Alexander is adamant that he is not moving he if inferior in telling his parents he can
move with other people and his is not packing but in all reality he knows that he will
move with his family he is just expressing what he wants to do and choose and
eventually says he will not move again.
Why?
This book allows and teaches children self-expression but also that sometimes even if
you don’t like something and don’t want to d0 something that you still have to.
Alexander is sad because he will not see his friends and neighbors anymore but he will
still have his parents and siblings.

Show the children different neighborhoods and the road signs they will see in their neighborhood
or in the new place they might move to.
Talk about how the weather is different in other states and pick a state with different weather
from the one we are in. Show them seasonal photos autumn leaf, snowflake, sun, rain.
5. Closure:
Tell children that sometimes families and friends need to move because of jobs, school or even
family reasons. Its okay when friends move away that they will still be available by phone or you
can write them or maybe even visit someday. Explain they are okay and they are going to be
with their families and make new friends and have new neighbors. They will still be able to see
road signs in the new neighborhood they move to and they will know what they mean.
