RR = regular return
ST = stitch/stitches
TFS = Tunisian full stitch
TSS = Tunisian simple stitch
YO = yarn over
STITCHES:
EDGE STITCH:
it’s the last stitch of the row, and it’s always worked in knit stitch (you can see how to do it in the following
video, from minute 1:50 on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCA7huAGYE4).
ARROWHEAD STITCH:
1st FORWARD ROW – 1 LP on hook, *1 TSS working next 2 vertical bars together, 1 YO* (don’t forget YOs,
or you’ll have less ST); repeat from * to * for the whole row, till you have only 3 ST left. 1 TSS working next
2 vertical bars together, 1 YO, 1 ES.
1st RETURN ROW – RR.
2nd FORWARD ROW – 1 LP on hook, *TSS, 1 TFS*, repeat from * to * till last ST, 1 ES.
2nd RETURN ROW – RR.
FORWARD ROW – 1 LP on hook, *insert hook in YO space, YO, make 1 ST*. Repeat from * to * for the whole
row, 1 ES.
RETURN ROW – RR.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Cast on an even number of CH to make a 86 cm long CH (the number of CH depends on the yarn you use);
make a first row of TSS, then go on with arrowhead ST till the fabric is 60 cm long (ending with 2nd return
row).
Now you make the neckline: work 28 cm in TSS, then close ST for 30 cm (the number of closed ST depends
on the yarn, anyway keep count of the closed ST); when you get to 30 cm, start working in TSS again till the
end of the row. Return regularly till the first closed ST you encounter; make as many CH as closed ST in row
below, then go on returning normally.
Continue in arrowhead ST for 60 cm. When you get to 60 cm (ending with 2nd return row) cast off.
Fold the fabric in half, making sure the edges match; on a short side, measure 18 cm from folded long side
(sleeves’ measure), and join the edges sewing the remaining 42 cm. Repeat on other short side. This way
you get the arms’ holes.
With regular crochet, make borders on sleeves and lower edge. Working in the round on sleeves’ holes and
lower edge, make 1 row of double crochet and 4 rows of back and front post double crochet (alternated).
For the neckline, make 1 row of double crochet in the round.
