    The design remit of wireline tool string components was to develop
    enhanced deployment systems for well intervention operations. There is
    now a substantial range of unique wireline tools offering improvements
    in speed, strength, safety and overall performance. Key to these improve-
    ments was the introduction in 1987 of the Petroline QLS™ Quick Lock
    System to replace traditional sucker rod connectors (screw thread). Now
    firmly established as the leading system of its type QLS™ is in use all over
    the world and has become almost an industry standard. As technology has
    moved ahead so has the intervention scope broadened.

    QLS replaces traditional sucker rod screw thread connections. This allows for
    tool string make-up and break-out times to be radically reduced. More signifi-
    cantly, the use of QLS connections removes a safety hazard from the operation.
    With QLS connections there is no longer the need to use pipe wrenches when
    making up tool string. In heavy jarring operations the connection cannot back
    off unlike like sucker rod type connections. The connection itself is stronger than
    traditional sucker rod connections in some sizes by up to 15%.

    There is now a substantial range of unique

    Long seen as an area of low technology and in many instances regarded as a


    “necessary evil” well intervention is now becoming recognised as fundamental,
    when properly executed, to enhancing well performance and thereby optimising
    return on investment. The QLS has been at the forefront of Wireline technologi-
    cal advances changing perception and is classed as one of the products that are
    regarded as the leading edge in intervention technology.

    Hunting Energy Services (Well Intervention) Ltd is now able to offer all tool string
    components with Licensed Petroline QLS connections. These connections are
    made under license from Weatherford and are manufactured to the same high
    standard that is synonymous with Petroline equipment.
