Shopping With Mum: 1. Why Was Ben Unhappy?
Ben was unhappy. His baby sister had a cold and his grandma
was coming to look after her while his mum went shopping,
and he had to go as well. He put on his red trainers and
followed his mum to the car. It was a sunny day so as a treat,
his mum put the roof down so Ben's hair was being blown
about by the wind. It cheered him up a little bit.
Mum parked the car and they collected a trolley and went into the
supermarket. It took a long time to do the shopping and Ben felt tired and
fed up. When the shopping had been paid for, Ben helped his mum put the
bags in the car. He got into the car and put on his seat belt.
''You've been very helpful,'' said Mum, ''would you like to go for a milkshake?''
When they arrived at the cafe, there were so many flavours to choose from.
There was chocolate, banana, strawberry, vanilla, mint, toffee, and coffee. He
just couldn't make up his mind.
''Come on,'' said Mum, ''this is taking you longer than the shopping!''
In the end, Ben chose strawberry flavour with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It
was delicious. Ben decided that shopping wasn't so bad after all.
