CONTENT STANDARD: The learner understands and appreciates the elements of


contexts of the 21st century Philippine literature from the regions.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD: The learner demonstrates understanding and


appreciation of 21st century literature from the regions through a written close analysis and
critical interpretation of a literary text in terms of form and theme with a description of its
context derived from research.

COMPETENCY:
 Explain the literary, biographical, linguistic, and sociocultural contexts and discuss how
they enhance the text’s meaning and enrich the reader’s understanding (EN12Lit-Ie-28)

OBJECTIVES
At the end of the session, students are expected to:
1. Define literary, biographical, linguistic and sociocultural contexts
2. Explain how the literary, biographical, linguistic, sociocultural contexts how they
enhance the text’s meaning and enrich the reader’s understanding.
3. Create a symbolism showing the main theme of the text.

1. ACTIVITIY (Skit Presentation)
 Instruct the learners to perform their short skit by group.
ASK: What have you realized from your activity?
2. ANALYSIS
 Instruct the learners to read the excerpt from a novel ‘Green Sanctuary’ by
Antonio Enriquez.
 Let them respond critically to the poem by answering comprehension questions.

3. ABSTRACTION
 Discuss the following: linguistic, biographical, literal and sociocultural context.
 Instruct the learners to locate and explain how the different basic contexts are
used in the excerpt.
Question: How do these basic contexts enhance the text’s meaning and enrich
the reader’s understanding?
