    The Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI) summer 2020 programs have been canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. While the staff and faculty were looking forward to welcoming students to campus and sharing their love of music, it has become clear the effects of the pandemic will impact communities throughout the summer. BUTI has created an FAQ page and will provide more information next week about refundable deposits for the canceled programs.

    Dear 2020 Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI) Students, Parents

    and Guardians:
    I write to notify you that Boston University Tanglewood Institute Summer 2020
    programs have been canceled. I know that this is disappointing news to all of
    the young musicians who worked so diligently to prepare, to the staff who were
    eager to welcome them to campus, and to the faculty who were looking forward
    to a summer of transformative teaching and music-making.
    We—like all of you—have been carefully watching the evolving impact of the
    COVID-19 pandemic. It is increasingly evident that the effects of the disease
    will be felt by communities throughout the summer months. This is an
    extremely difficult period. Although we look forward to the time when we can
    gather together in Lenox and on Tanglewood stages to share what we love,
    what is most important at this moment is that we join together in keeping health
    and safety a priority, being kind to and supporting each other to the greatest
    extent possible, and continuing to make and share music with artistry and
    meaning as we are able.
    We know you will have questions. In anticipation, we created a Frequently
    Asked Questions (FAQs) page. Next week, we will e-mail you again with
    additional information about your refundable deposits.
