Creeping higher

June 10, 2019 Nifty daily: 11922.70

The Nifty began the day on a strong footing and

attempted to build upon the early gains. On the
higher side, however, the 61.8% retracement of the
recent dip acted as a key barrier and restricted the
price action for the day. The key Fibonacci level,
which is at 11975, induced the bears to push the
index down as the day progressed. Towards the end,
however, the index recovered to some extent. The
tussle between the bulls and the bears can continue
near 11850-11950 before the index embarks towards
the uncharted territory. From a trading perspective,
one can maintain a positive stance on the index
with the near term target area at 12200-12220. The
intermediate hurdle is placed at 12103. 60-minute

Other technical observations

On the daily chart, the Nifty is above the 20-day
moving average (DMA) and the 40-DEMA, i.e. 11715
and 11668 respectively. The momentum indicator is in
bearish mode on the daily chart.
On the hourly chart, the Nifty is above the 20-hour
moving average (HMA) and the 40-HEMA, i.e. 11887
and 11917 respectively. The hourly momentum
indicator is in bullish mode. The market breadth was
negative with 701 advances and 1083 declines on the
National Stock Exchange.
