Objective:
To evaluate the surface of one sample for antimicrobial effectiveness against Methicillin-resistant
Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) ATCC# 43300 as demonstrated by ASTM E 2180 test method.
Pre-Cleaning: None
Control: Untreated plastic control supplied by MicroStar
Neutralizing Broth Used: 10 mL D/E Neutralizing Broth
Starting Inoculum
S. aureus (MRSA) ATCC# 43300: 4.3 x 106; Log value 6.63
Concentration:
Amount of Inoculum: 1.0 mL

Test Results:
Log reduction and percent reduction is determined by comparing the treated sample after the
contract time to the untreated plastic control after the contact time using the geometric mean
(average of log values of each replicate) and antilog as indicated by the standard test method. The
average number of recovered bacteria and log reduction are reported as Log10 values.
Results against S. aureus (MRSA) ATCC# 43300 after 24-hour Contact Time
Geometric Mean of Log Percent
Sample Recovered Bacteria Reduction Reduction
Untreated Plastic Control 6.44
The detection limit for this test is log10 value 1.00 due to the 10x dilution that occurs with the
addition of the neutralizing broth. Results reported as <1.00 means there were no test organisms
found on the lowest dilution plate.
