1 INTRODUCTION
1.1 Project Background
Merakes development is an important initiative for Eni that will contribute to regional
growth and consolidate leadership role in the offshore South Kutei basin.
The East Sepinggan Block (2,913 km2) is located offshore in the deep water area of the
Kutei Basin, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. The Kutei Basin is one of the main producing
basin of Indonesia with more than 45 Tcf gas and 4,000 MMbbls oil reserves discovered,
mostly in Miocene/Pliocene sands.
The block was included in the 1st Indonesian Bidding Round of 2012; it was awarded to
eni Indonesia on 20th July 2012, with working interest of 100%. The license type is a
Production Sharing Contract (PSC), with a six year exploration period (3+3 years).
Currently Pertamina has farmed in with a 15% quote.
East Sepinggan is adjoining the Muara Bakau & Makassar Strait PSC. In Muara Bakau eni
discovered Jangkrik and Jangkrik NE. In Makassar Strait PSC Chevron has Maha-
Gendalo4 discovery (Mean OGIP ~580 Bcf).
Merakes field is a dry gas discovery (very low CGR). The discovery is in around 1400 m
water depth. Merakes is located South in respect to Eni-operated Jangkrik field with a
linear distance of 35 km. Linear distance to shore instead is around 100 km.
Eni Indonesia drilled the Merakes-1 exploration well with success and successfully drilled
and tested also Merakes 2, the first appraisal well of the Merakes discovery.
The proximity of Merakes 2 discovery to the Jangkrik field will allow to maximizing the
synergies with existing nearby infrastructures as well as to reduce costs and time of the
execution of the future subsea development it confirms the success of Eni the “near field”
exploration and appraisal strategy.
The Merakes development is based on a 5-well submarine tie-back to the Jangrik FPU.
The production of Merakes will take place with 5 submarine wells (Merakes-3, Merakes-
4, Merakes-5, Merakes-6, Merakes-7) for which a phasing is planned and the rump-up
will follow the depletion of Jangkrik Main and Jangkrik North East.
The current architecture will allow an early start-up with 2 wells (XT available from the
JKK project) and a rigid pipeline or possibly with 3 or 4 wells by means of both pipelines..
The submarine wells of Merakes will be connected to the FPU by means of a double
production line, each with its own SSIV located at the base of flexible riser, commanded
by a common umbilical. A 6-slot and double-header submarine manifold will be used to
collect the production from 5 wells in Main Lobe and will allow the sorting of production
on the two production pipelines in order to manage any pressure differences between the
wells. The manifold will be controlled.
The double production line is recommended for flexibility: at high flow rates, both lines
will be used, while at the minimum turn-down, only one line will be in production. The
two-line configuration will solve (or mitigate) both the problem of the accumulation of
liquid at minimum sag and the problem of velocity at maximum flow.
The manifold will have a pigging loop that will close the Loop with FPU for intelligent
pigging.
This document presents the structural calculation of each chemical injection pump skid
base frame, pump support frame including lifting pad eyes and spreader bar with wire
rope/slings and shackles selection base on offshore lifting application and also presents
the analysis during transportation to FPU, operating, test, and blast condition at FPU as
below:
b. The factored lift chemical injection pump skid weight (FW) considered in calculation
already cover the full complete assembly system that consists of tubing and fitting,
filters, instruments and supports, valves, pumps and accessories and provide a plus
of weight contingency 15%. Then, the design lift chemical injection pump weight
(DW) as load combination between dead load and live load with design load factor
(DAF) is applied to calculate the lifting pad eyes and skid beam and also to select the
suitable wire ropes/slings and shackles. The dead load, live load information and
design load factor each skid is provided in Table 1.
However, to simplify the structure frame and pad eyes design calculation, wire
ropes/slings and shackle selection, all skids will be applied the highest design lift
weight (DW) in Table 1.
c. The skid structure to be lifted by using common spreader bar single point with four
lifting pad eyes on skid.

4 DESIGN CONDITION
The design lift load shall be load combination that consist of dead load (self-weight skid)
and live load (Small quantity of liquid and temporary support packing), as described on
Section 1.2, for simplicity the skid structure and pad eyes design calculation, wire
ropes/slings and shackle selection, all skids will be applied 2,177 x 2.0 is equal to
4,354.0 kg’s or 42,713.0 N.
Standard API RP 2A-WSA Section 2.4.2 as reference is to help us to design and produce
skid structure that safely can be handled during the offshore lifting from vessel to
platform. The each skid is considered to require single event offshore lifting.
All the structure are modeled as 2D-beam element with appropriate section.
Some beams are offset according to the actual joint connection.
The wire rope are modeled as tension beams with C.o.G base on relevant lifting
arrangement drawing (Ref. Doc. No. 220810DJ DCWC023).
For simplicity of case, all skids will only be applied with the highest load as shown in
Table 1.
4.3 Materials
Steel materials are specified in the general arrangement drawing (Ref. Doc. No.
220810DMDAWC013). Pad eyes steel material are used material type S275J0. Skid
beam, spreader bar and the other support frame, drip pan steel material is used S275JR.
