GOTHIC BRACELET or necklace

free pattern of Lia Govers

Materials needed: a hook nr. 1,5; a thread, maybe better a thread that requires to be crocheted
with a hook nr. 2 (mine is an italian thread Rial Carisei 100% egyptian cotton, a bit more
consistent than threads for hooksize 1,5); a button; a needle.
Stitches used: chain, slip stitch, sc, dc, 4-dc closed together, my picot (**).
My (**) picot stitch over here = crocheted at the top of the 4-dc closed together : after the
closure of the 4 dc crochet 3 chain stitches in the air and only slip stitch inside the top of the
4-dc-closure. So, close the picot-stitch only with this slip stitch!

This bracelet is 23 cm long (and 4,5 cm large): it can fit wrists from 18 until 21 – 21,5 cm.
Note to make it smaller or larger – good for a necklace too : I myself did not test it, but it
should be sufficient to take away or to add 10 or 11 stitches on the basicline.
The motifs will continue certainly in the same way in the furter rows. If, eventually, you
don’t know how to adapt the ends, simply crochet some sc more or less at the beginning
and/or end of the bracelet (in the 2° row!). In further rows then slip stitch there (above these
sc) from the beginning on or towards the end, like already written in this pattern.

Crochet 60 chainstitches.
1° row: Turn, crochet a sc from the 2° chain from the hook, sc all across.
2° row: 1 chain, turn, sc, * 4 chain stitches in the air, skip 2 sc. sc in the following sc.*
Repeat from * to * until the end of this row and end the row with sc, sc.
3° row: continue around the corner and crochet sc on the top of the bracelet, and on the other
side crochet : sc,sc,sc and then repeat here the motif of 4-chainbows + sc, exactly like done in
the 2° row (here mirror-like). End this row with sc, sc.
4° row: Go ahead with sc on this top of the bracelet. On the other side: sc, sc. Now slip stitch
to the top of the 1st bow (of 4 chains) and crochet a sc on the top of this bow, * 2 chain
stitches in the air, 4 dc in the next bow, 2 chain stiches in the air, sc in following bow, 4 chain
stitches in the air, sc in the following bow.* Repeat from * to * until the end of the row and
end with a slip stitch on the last bow.
5° row: Slip stitch all across the corner to the other side until you are on the top of the 1st
bow, sc on the top of this bow. Now do/crochet the same motif of the past (4°) row, but this
will no more be mirror-like! So start with 4 chain stittches in the air + sc in the following
bow. This row will therefore end with 2 same 4- chainline-bows at the end.
6° row: Go ahead, all around the bracelet and slip stitch again to the other side of the bracelet
until you are on the top of the 1st dc. Sc on the top of this dc. * 3 Chains (= 1 dc - and will be
a normal dc in next motifgroups) + 3 dc, all closed together (take a look at my photos) and
this is a 4-dc-group closed together, 3 chains in the air to form my picot-stitch (closed with a
slip stitch inside the top of the 4-dc-closure!), 3 chains in the air, dc in the next bow, 2 ch in
the air, dc inside the same bow, 3 chains in the air. *
Repeat from * to * until the end of the row. After the last picot here crochet 3 chains in the
air until the base of the 4-dc-group and slip stitch in chain of the bow. Slip stitch across the
corner of the bracelet.
7° row: Slip stitch to the top of the 1st bow. Crochet a sc on the top of this bow, 3 chains in
the air and then continue the motif from * to * like described in the 6° row. Note that here
this final motif with 4-dc-closures will not be mirror-like to the 6° row! (Look at my photos).
You will end this row with dc – 2 chains in air – dc-motif.
Then crochet 3 chains in the air, sc in the next bow. Slip stitch to the top of the bracelet, sc on
the top and crochet here your own buttonring.

Buttonring will depend of the measure of your chosen button.

(My buttonring is made of 10 chains in the air, a slip stitch to the other side, 1 chain, turn and
crochet 15 sc inside the ring, slip stitch to the top of bracelet and fasten off.)
Sew away the threads left, secure the base of the buttonring in a good way.
Attack your button on the other side where required.

An embellishment-idea for someone: attack some decorations (buttons ? ) on the central sc-
line like a further decoration.
