Honeywell HFR5 CVR On-Aircraft Download Procedure

The following procedure provides a means to download the Honeywell Solid State Cockpit
Voice Recorder (CVR) HFR5-V part number 980-6032-xxx, without removing it from the
aircraft.

This on-ground procedure does not require airworthiness approval, however it shall be
the operator’s responsibility to determine if the actions of removing the CVR for
download shall require a re-certification (8130 tag) of the CVR.

This procedure also requires the cable as detailed in Honeywell document attached.

1) Pull the cockpit CVR Circuit Breaker to remove power from the unit
2) Remove the CVR from the aircraft mounting tray
3) Insert the temporary adapter cable part number 69002990-001, into the aircraft
mounting tray connector.
See attached detailed drawings of cables.
4) Insert CVR into the temporary cable (Note: CVR will extend about 4 inches from the
front edge of the tray)
5) Connect cable to portable download tool – either RPGSE (p/n 952-0051-001) or
eHHDLU (p/n 69001074-060)
NOTE: The normal download cable connected to the FRONT connector may also be
used as an alternate download path.
6) Push CVR circuit breaker back in.
Power is now applied to CVR. Start the eHHDLU and download the Audio File.
7) When the download is complete (approximately 6 mins) pull the cockpit CVR Circuit
Breaker to remove power from the unit. Remove the temporary cable.
8) Re-install CVR into the aircraft mounting tray.
9) Push CVR circuit breaker back in. Power is now applied to CVR. And conduct a Press
To Test from the CVR Control panel to verify the unit is operational.
10) For audio Playback of this downloaded file, refer to Playback-32 software (part number
998-3414-509 or higher).
