Culzean is a new grade of light crude oil from the North Sea.
It is produced from the Culzean High-Pressure High-
Temperature (HPHT) gas condensate field located
approximately 225 km east of Aberdeen in Block 22/25a of
Atlantic
the Central North Sea. Ocean
Culzean
The development includes a stand-alone three bridge-linked
platform in water depths of about 100 metres and utilises six
production wells and one produced water re-injection well.
Gas is exported by a separate pipeline to the CATS Terminal North Sea
in Teesside whilst the crude oil is exported via a dedicated United
floating storage and offtake vessel, the Ailsa FSO. Kingdom

Crude quality summary
Culzean is a light crude oil with virtually zero sulphur and other contaminants such as nitrogen, nickel
and vanadium.
Our marketing assay has an API gravity of 49 degrees. Culzean is atypical to other crudes traded in the
European market because of its high wax content. Despite this, Culzean has a relatively low pour point
of -3 degrees C.

Naphtha Gasoil
Culzean’s naphtha has a high N+2A which Culzean’s gasoil has a very low sulphur content and
makes it an excellent feedstock for upgrading to a high cetane index which makes it an excellent
gasoline via reforming and isomerisation. feedstock for diesel production.
Kerosene Vacuum Gasoil
The kerosene cut of Culzean has a low density The VGO cut of Culzean is waxy and has a high
and sulphur content which will assist in meeting aniline point which makes it an ideal cracking
typical jet fuel specifications. feedstock for upgrading into gasoline or diesel.
