Dear Student

RE: TEACHING PRACTICE COMPULSORY 5 WEEKS

If you are registered for TPF3701

I would suggest you wait for the teaching practice workbooks as well as download the
relevant guides which are linked to TP. These are under additional resources. You
need to go through all the requirements so that you know what is expected of you as
a student teacher. This will help you cope in the school. Try and learn as much as
possible while you are at the school and assist the teacher in every way possible. Also
do preparation together with the teachers of the various grades beforehand. You need
to know what the current topics/ themes are which you need to prepare for.

Please note the below requirement: TPF3701

 Five weeks for Teaching practice TPF3701 thus 5 weeks in total. Make sure
you read all the tutorials letters.
 You will be able to do the 5 weeks consecutive (25 days) and submit the
relevant workbooks for TPF3701 two weeks after completing your teaching
practice at the school.
 No teaching practice may overlap with another TP module should you be
registered for two TP modules. You date of placement in this instance must be
different.
 Should you not complete the total of 25 days (5 weeks) above, your degree
will not be awarded.

Unisa rules and regulations

The Unisa rules and regulations are provided when you register and the new and the
old qualifications are both very clear. 5 weeks teaching practice per TP module is
compulsory. www.unisa.ac.za provides the general rules which you automatically
agree to when you register.
Monitoring teaching practice

The teaching practice office is monitoring all students and report to Higher Education
on a regular basis on the progress. I have as stated copied Dr Sethusha in the email.

No leave

You will have to plan between school holidays and private and government schools’
terms as they do differ, and you can maybe fit it in. The only other option is unpaid
leave which many students must take in order to qualify and be awarded the
qualification this is should you not have enough leave

Disciplinary steps

No reduction in the 5 weeks per module. Any student found to have forged any
teaching practice will face a disciplinary and suspension from any further studies at
Unisa. Students how have been found to plagiarize other students work or lessons will
also face disciplinary steps. It is considered Fraud.

5 weeks consecutive for TPF3701 or separate 2 weeks then 3 weeks

in this time, you must observe and teach for:

 2 weeks in grade R
 One week each in grades 1 to 3

Assignment 01 (due before April) If this assignment is not submitted you will fail
TP irrespective of submitting any other assignment

Assignment 02, 50, 51 & 52 submit two weeks after finishing at school

You will find the necessary theory modules’ guides uploaded under additional
resources on the Teaching practice myunisa site
Teaching Practice Placement

Fill in the DSAR form one for each TP and request to do it during the months I have
provided. You can also consult with the TP office as to the placement. Any problems
and changes with placements can be discussed with Dr
Sethusha [email protected]

Study material

All study material is online. Read it while you wait for the printed material. All
outstanding material must be requested from
dispatch [email protected] Please note that delays can be experienced due to
circumstances beyond control.

Submitting assignments online is best option

Make sure you submit online as this is safest and best. You must however keep
copies. Only if your assignment is captured online and show on myunisa does it
mean that it is received. See the attach. You must take responsibility to check
myunisa.
