    Dear Sir/Ma’am,

    I am Ayush Chamaria, a 1st year student at Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. I am


    writing to you to apply for the position of Associate at Bain & Co. I am convinced that Bain
    has done a commendable job leveraging its brand and assets into a relationship with the
    clients and that this company invests in development of its employees and will provide me
    with the best path to start a successful career.
    Anything even remotely related to business practices & financial concepts interests me.
    Consultancy involves application of business theories & concepts, interpretation of huge
    amounts of data and business sense to real life situations. I have had experience handling and
    interpreting large amounts of data during the 10 months I spent at JP Morgan Chase as an
    analyst in the Corporate Finance Advisory division, which required me to make sense of data
    and the business our clients and their competitors were in, to advise them on capital
    allocation and deal structuring.
    I have a background in Commerce from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi that has
    helped me develop my understanding of business in general and the need for strategic
    decision making in particular. In my second year of college, I was the project director for the
    Consult Club of SRCC which gave me my first exposure to what consulting was about. Our
    team used to advise early age start-ups on cost cutting, revenue generation, HR issues etc.
    which aided me in learning the nuances of business, how some problems need to be probed
    for, how to prioritize among the various issues a business faces and come up with the
    solutions that fit best and can be implemented. Working in the projects right from the ideation
    stage to analysing problems at various stages and exploring all possible options has helped
    me channelize my thought process and conditions me to look for the most optimal solution.
    One of the things that attract me towards consulting is the steep learning curve that it offers.
    Working as a consultant would help me widen my horizons by giving me the opportunity to
    work across different sectors. I strongly believe in the concept of collective growth and
    consisted improvement and I find real substance in consulting as I believe it resonates with
    these principles. This is why I feel that Bain will provide me with the right kind of
    opportunities. The work culture that Bain showcases and the immense stress that is laid on
    the development of people is what I feel would help me grow as a professional and come out
    with the best results.
    I firmly believe that the principles of this company are congruent with mine and with my
    passion for consulting, interest in business and entrepreneurship, motivation to work with a
    team and skills to balance and excel in multiple tasks at hand. I would be a good fit in Bain’s
    dynamic and entrepreneurial culture. I sincerely hope that you would consider my
    candidature.
