Career Research Essay

The career that was researched was nursing, there are many different types of

nurses. The tasks a nurse performs depends on the department that they are working

in, for example if you are working in pediatrics you will do things like treat babies and

young children, giving them shots. If you are working in urgent care then you will deal

with more broken limbs or any other quick emergency that a hospital wouldn't take.

To be able to work in this profession one has to be able to see anything with

blood or other vulgar things that many people wouldn’t be able to take. It also helps to

be good with people and to enjoy talking with them. This is because you will only be

around people all day.

The type of school and for how long all depends on what type of nurse you want

to be. To become an Rn one would need an associates degree in nursing, this can even

be obtained at a community college. At mira costa you would start by taking the

necessary classes which are, three different science classes, one math and one english

class. Once you've taken these classes you can apply for the nursing program, if you

wish to continue your education to get a higher job title then you would transfer to a 4

year college after this. Being an Rn you will start out by making $25 per hour, however

there are special departments that will pay you more. After years of working you have

the potential to make $50 per hour, but this won't be for a while.

However if you don't like nursing there are other careers that are somewhat

similar to this one. One of those careers is a physical therapist by doing this you can

avoid any blood or other factors that may put you off nursing while still managing to help
people. Nursing is a very steady career since people will always need nurses and

doctors, this kind of career is not in decline at all. There will most likely always be

nursing jobs available since it's not an industry that will just go away.

Nursing is not an occupation that is for everyone but there are reasons why I

believe that I will more than thrive in this job. Those reasons being that I won't be

working in an office environment, you are also interacting with different types of people

all day. Also though it may not seem like it there is a wide range of different types of

nursing jobs that you can switch between so you have a lot of options for your career.
