    1) As of May 17th, 2020, 326,720 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in Tamil Nadu, with 11,224 testing positive and 315,019 testing negative. 4,172 positive patients have been discharged following treatment. There are currently 6,971 active cases under treatment. 2) 558 new cases were reported in Tamil Nadu on May 17th, including 81 people who returned from other states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. 3) The public is advised to follow health advisories including practicing cough etiquette and frequent hand washing to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

    Daily report on Public Health measures taken for COVID-19

    Till now 3,26,720 samples have been taken and sent for testing.
    COVID-19 testing is done in 39 Government and 22 Private labs all over
    Tamil Nadu. 11,224 persons have tested positive till date. 3,15,019 samples
    were tested negative. Testing of 477 samples are under process. 15,099
    samples are repeat samples. 4,172 COVID-19 positive patients have been
    discharged following treatment till today. Hence, 6,971 active cases are
    under treatment as on today.

    The general public are advised to adhere to health advisories and


    travel advisories issued by the state Government. Public should follow the
    cough etiquette by covering the face using handkerchief / towel while
    sneezing/ coughing. Do frequent hand washing with soap and water.
