Title Chemical beneficiation of low grade Indian coal by leaching process (IIT Kharagpur,
Ph.D.)
Description The research aimed to reduce the mineral matters from the coal by chemical leaching
techniques. The low grade coals are associate with large minerals of both organic and
inorganic types. It is difficult to remove the organic minerals and also some inorganic
matters from coal by conventional physical methods. Therefore, the chemical leaching
method is employed to remove all types of minerals from the coal matrix. The
investigation made with different reagents treated with coal at varying different
leaching parameters and evaluate the removal of mineral matter in terms of ash
reduction by characterizing with FESEM‐EDX, XRD, FTIR and XRF techniques.
Title To study the rheology and filtration properties of water based drilling fluid for oil well
drilling (IIT/ISM Dhanbad, M.Tech)
Description The objective of the present research is to study the fluid loss during drilling operations
and the effect of fluid loss on reservoir formation damage. There are many additives to
control this unwanted phenomenon. The artificial chemicals are used to resist the fluid
loss which are not only expensive, but also hazardous to the environment. More natural
method is applied to overcome the higher filtration problems by employing carboxyl
methyl cellulose (CMC) and also improve rheological properties by using polymers
(PHPA), and GUAR GUM.
