JACARANDAONE

WELCOME TO TERM TWO

Parents, caregivers and students, welcome to another wonderful term in Jacaranda One! Our class had some valuable learning
experiences last term and adjusted to new routines, despite the challenges that Corona Virus posed to our learning community. We
are looking forward to engaging with new ideas and challenges. Please peruse this class newsletter for information regarding our
class for this coming term.

CORONA VIRUS AND SAFETY
Welcome back to parents, caregivers and students in Term 2. Despite the challenges that Corona
Virus have caused in Term 1, the Jacaranda staff are committed to ensuring your child has the best
and most flexible options to access our personalised curriculum. Please be aware that at school,
certain precautions are in place to ensure social distancing rules are followed by adults and the safety
of the SPPS community are exemplified:

• Parents/caregivers are to minimise time on school grounds when dropping off/picking up

their child, and without entering the classroom.
• Service providers will not be allowed on site to support your child until Week 4 of this term,
where at this time the rule will be lifted.
• While the Department for Education has lifted the rules on social distancing between
students, thorough hygiene practices such as continual hand washing and applying sanitiser
regularly will occur. This is to support positive hygiene practices in our students.

As normal if there are any queries please do not hesitate to contact me via your child’s communication
book, through my email at [email protected], or on my preferred method,
the SeeSaw app. Also remember to check the Salisbury Park Primary School “Skoolbag” app from
your App Store (Apple)/Google Play (Android) as these are no longer printed. Please feel free to
speak to me or another staff member if you need assistance with the app.

COOKING & SWIMMING

The Jacaranda cooking program is an engaging hands-on curriculum that
teaches valuable life-skills, and is continuing through Term 2. It promotes
multi-sensory instruction, group dynamics, related vocabulary and kitchen
safety.

Our students will be continuing this program in 2020, and a copy of our
cooking program will be sent to families in due course. Signed comment
forms and your payment of $10 for the term by end of Week 3 would
be greatly appreciated. Due to current excursion restrictions, this
payment will go towards the purchase of ingredients to be brought in for
student use. Our cooking program aims to accommodate all students of
diverse learning styles, and will as such be given using verbal prompting,
communication tools (such as PODD), and/or visual sequencing.

Due to current COVID-19 public social distancing restrictions,

Swimming will not be occurring this term. Therefore, there is no need
to pay the usual $31 Swimming fee.
