Carmen Diaz is a fiery drama dance major, who is itching for success. She believes that she is ready to be a professional actress and will do whatever it takes to get there. She performs the song “FAME” in the middle of the cafeteria as she enters her fantas world of being famous. She befriends Schlomo and asks to join their band, and be the lead singer. She truly believes in Schlomos ability to write incredible music and the two become best friends. When Camren decides to leave for LA after being contacted by a casting agent Schlomo tries to convince her not to do it, claiming it’s a scam, but after her drama teacher Ms. Meyers calls her out on not being authenrtic, Carmen announces how sick she is of everyone trying to hold her down and leaves. In the students senior year Carmen returns, she tells everyone how great LA was but when she is alone with Schlomo explains how awful it was and how now she is broke and her dreams are crushed in the song “In LA”. She drops out of school but returns for the “Fame Finale” after the bows.
Goody - MUSIC MAJOR
Goodman King, better known as Goody is studying music at the FAME school and forms a band with Schlomo as the bassist. Goody is the epitome of a tom boy and hates that Schlomo keeps bringing in girlie girls into their band. She really wants to be taken seriously and doesn’t want their image tainted by an airhead drummer. This attitude almost causes a fight between the new drummer Lambchops, but luckily Schlomo was able to make their love of music their first priority and their love-hate relationship number 2. The student who plays Goody will also play Ms. Meyers the drama teacher, who leads Nick, Serena, Carmen and Jo through their 4 years. She tried to stear Carmen in the right direction and challenge her to be herself first before looking for other characters to hide behind but Carmen tried to turn this attempt to help her into an attack and left the school blaming everyone else for her mistakes. Ms. Meyers directs the school play and is able to sneakily switch his Romeo from class clown Jo, to the romantic lead Nick just in time for the performance!
Iris Kelly - DANCE MAJOR
Iris Kelly is the beautiful rich young ballet student who transferred from Paris. She is the best dancer in class and is paired with Tyrone for their duet. When Iris snaps at Tyrone for not being able to do the steps he calls her out on having everything handed to her when he has to work for it. Iris admits that she isn’t rich and that she isn’t from Paris and that she hid behind her façade in fear of people not liking her. When Tyrone and Iris begin to be honest with each other they are able to learn and respect each other and soon fall in love. Iris helps Tyrone with his English class and his choreography and they perform a beautiful pas de deux in the school’s Fall Festival Performance.
Jo Vegas - DRAMA MAJOR
Jo Vegas is the class clown and comedy king! Joe falls for the gorgeous Carmen and does everything he can to woo her, even during class when he sing “I can’t keep it Cool”. He is a ridiculous loud mouth who ends up with the role of Romeo in the school play. When he can’t ditch his Brooklyn accent for the role and make Romeo a bit less of a stand up comedian, his Juliette, Serena loses it. Joe plays matchmaker and helps get Nick and Serena into the roles of Romeo and Juliet and gets to graduate as a class clown like he’d always planned and begins his career as a comedian. The actor who plays Jo Vegas also plays the role of Mr. Sheinkomf, the music teacher who is incredibly hard on his students, especially Schlomo, as his father is a famous violinist, who expects Schlomo to follow in his footsteps! Lambchops - MUSIC MAJOR Grace “Lambchops” Lamb is a girlie rock and roll drummer who loves Pink Floyd, funk and picking fights! When Lambchops is introduced to her future bandmate Goody they two almost end up in a fist fight over their differences but with Schlomo’s help and guidance the group is able to work together to become a band and make an incredible sound, though their music teacher Mr. Sheinkomf likely would not consider that sound music. The group brings in Carmen and together the begin booking gigs. Lambchops is sassy and sarcastic although in class she is quite lackluster and is barely passing. Luckily Lambschops and the band are able to hook up with a great manager and play some really classy gigs. Lambchops is a punk rock, comedic princess that you definitely shouldn’t mess with!
Mabel Washington - DANCE MAJOR
Mabel Washington is a dancer who can’t seem to make it through class without eating. She befriends Carmen the drama, dance student and watches her try and pursue fame and fortune. When she is told that her weight is what is hindering her from becoming a better dancer Mabel tries to diet, but when she realizes that she should love her body just the way it is, she changes major to a place where she felt more accepted and that wouldn’t ask her to change who she is, or what she looks like. She sings the incredible ballad “Mabel’s Prayer” and graduates as a drama major.
Mrs. Sherman - SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
Mrs. Easter Sherman is a strict and cold English teacher at the FAME school. She notices that Tyrone copied his book report and in an effort to teach him a lesson for cheating kicks him out of the dance collective. Mrs. Bell the dance teacher pleads with her in the song “Teachers Argument” suggesting that taking dance away from Tyrone wont help him. She stands firm in her argument that Tyrone shouldn’t dance until he passes English, she is harsh on him until she sings the song “These are my Children” and realizes that it is her job to help him not to discipline him. She works with Tyrone and he is able to pass and continue studying dance. She finds her passion again and with Tyrone’s help is able to help more of her students succeed and follow their dreams!
Ms. Bell - DANCE TEACHER
Ms. Greta Bell is the dance teacher at the FAME school, she is strict but passionate and expects the best from her class. When Tyrone begins fooling around in her Ballet class she calls him out, but when he expresses his need to dance his way she allows him to show her what his way is. When Ms. Bell see’s how much potential Tyrone has as a dancer and choreographer she dedicates her time to helping him improve in both hip hop, and unfortunately for Tyrone, Ballet. She pairs him with Iris and together Iris and Ms. Bell are able to mold Tyrone into an unstoppable dancer. But when Ms. Sherman threatens to take Tyrone out of dance Ms. Bell is livid. She tries to express to Ms. Sherman that Tyrone is one of the best dancers she’s ever seen and that if they take dance away from him he might not have anything else. This causes the teachers to fight about what is best for Tyrone in the song “Teacher’s Argument.” Ms. Bell is able to work with Tyrone while he stays back a year to pass English, knowing that he will succeed, after he is able to support himself academically. Nick Piazza - DRAMA MAJOR Nick Piazza is a young actor who has already begun his journey by performing in commercials. When he gets to the school he wants to pursue acting seriously and sings “I want to Make Magic” to express his love for theatre and professional acting. When he his partnered with Serena he gets frustrated because she keeps getting distracted by her crush on him, and ends up leaving after he finds his headshot in her bag. They go their separate ways until the Senior show of Romeo and Juliet. When Serena gets the role of Juliette she assumes she is with Nick, and is horrified to find out that he is Marcuccio and her Romeo is the class clown, Jo. When Jo is struggling with the role Nick tries to help him by performing the scene with Serena and ends up sharing a special moment with her and realizes that he has real feelings for her. They begin to date even though they are going to separate colleges and sing “Love Scene Reprise” as a hopeful goodbye as they graduate as a couple.
Schlomo Metzimbalm - MUSIC MAJOR
Schlomo Metzimbalm in the music program who is living in the shadow of their father who is a professional musician. Schlomo wants to find his own voice and develop a band of his own with the help of his friends Goody and Lambchops, his drummer and basist. Together they book gigs, while passing their Mozart tests, which is incredibly difficult with their teacher Mr. Sheinkomf, who expects everything to be perfect! But when drama student Carmen wants to join the band and befriends Schlomo things start to take a turn for the group. Schlomo and Carmen write music together and create an incredible song but Carmen is obsessed with becoming famous and leaves the school and the band to move to LA on her own. When she returns her faith in herself and in art has completely diminished and the starstruck Carmen confides in her best friend that she made a horrible mistake and that she is done with acting and with fame. Schlomo performs their song at their graduation as a tribute to his friend, who is in the audience instead of on the stage.
Serena Katz - DRAMA MAJOR
Serena Katz is a young and naïve actress who begins her journey at the FAME school with a major crush on Nick Piazza. She is completely head over heels with him because he is so passionate about acting, but her crush gets in the way of her own acting experience. She ruins their scene together when Nick finds his headshot in her bag and gets upset, she sings “Love Scene” as he leaves her alone. When Serena is in her senior year she lands the part of Juliette and assumes Nick is her Romeo, but is horrified to find out that her romantic lead is Jo Vegas. She assumes that Nick didn’t accept the role to avoid her and sings the song “Think of Meryl Streep” to channel her anger into acting. When Nick has to step in for Jo as Romeo he ends up sharing a romantic moment Serena and realizing that he is in love with the girl he always treated like an annoying little sister. They begin to date even though they are going to separate colleges and sing “Love Scene Reprise” as a hopeful goodbye after they graduate as a couple.
Tyrone Jackson - DANCE MAJOR
Tyrone Jackson is a talented but dyslexic hip hop dancer who struggles to find his way in the FAME school. He pushes back on his teacher Ms. Bell since he doesn’t understand Ballet and performs a hip hop routine for her. When she sees his true potential as a dancer and choreographer she helps him and pushes him. But when Tyrone fails English Mrs. Sherman threatens to take dance away from him. It becomes Tyrone’s choice to decide whether he is going to give up, or work hard to overcome this obstacle. With the help of Mrs. Sherman, Mrs. Bell and the beautiful ballet dancer Iris, we see Tyrone become the best version of himself at the FAME school! Tyrone sings the song “Dancin’ on the Sidewalk” and shows off his dance moves throughout the show!
