Terms that have for the most part of [Insert your age] years remained a foreign concept to
me. It had been reserved to the flipping pages of a history book, to the struggles of our ancestors,
to remakes, to shows but never to reality. Never to my present or future. However, as I stand here
practicing self-quarantine, a term that was not too long ago a mere concept etched on a page or
an experience of decades ago, stands to be my reality. Stands to be your reality. Stands to be our
reality.
We are in a time of great ordeal. As most of you are aware, a virus which originated in
Wuhan, a city in China, has now had a massive spread globally and quite frightening surge in
individuals affected by it. What started as a mere cold; a sneeze there, a cough here, has now
developed into a large scale COVID-19 epidemic and has spread to more than seventy countries.
According to the journal Nature Medicine, it is a product of natural evolution. The virus links
back to the family of virus which caused a Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)
epidemic in China in the year of 2003 [ CITATION Sci20 \l 1033 ]. According to World Health
Organization, severe precautions have been implemented worldwide to stop the spread of this
virus which quite easily spreads from human to human after on interaction. The cases have been
increasing ever since. Italy has been hit by the worst of what this virus had to entail [ CITATION
Wor191 \l 1033 ].
All of us belong to a rather capitalistic culture which had deeply rooted the notion of
feeling useless until and unless you are not doing something that is productive and profitable.
The journal of American Psychology Association has on various accounts discussed the
transitional impact of the capitalistic culture. This is a feeling which has become harder to avoid
given the fact we have been confined to our four walls with abundance of time yet rather limited
sources. The entire world is on its knees because of a strand of virus and is utterly helpless in the
face of it. There is a silver lining for us in this situation, though. We have roof above our heads, a
shelter to call our own, food stocked up in the fridge and precautionary measures available
However, not everyone is as fortunate as us and in times like these, it is all the more important to
focus on such individuals. So, for all those who feel helpless and are itching to be productive, to

The challenges being addressed by this fund is the spread of the virus in vulnerable

older adults as well as individuals who face homelessness such as refugees and migrants, or be it

local organizations which fail to deliver can easily contribute to this fund and invest in the long-
term planning of stopping COVID-19. These donations will help garner stronger responses and
encourage communities to do more than their capacities. This will allow the world with a better
change of fighting the corona virus so normal life can resume again. We are all in this together
now. We have to work together and as one unit. So, I implore you to donate. To be a part of the
