The Collective Consciousness & the Egregore

So I have been asked to give a lecture...for something like an hour. While I can talk for an hour no
problem, as some of you might know I love to talk and it’s even my job. But that really moves away
from the idea of this topic I feel. So involvement would be better as that is really what Egregore is
about. The group, not one guy. So rather than listening to me drone on, I can use that word cause
I’m American and we use drones, I rather have a nice discussion with a direction.

What is Consciousness? I would change this “group mind” to group spirit. Consciousness is more
than just awareness it is deeper. It goes to spirit.

The world today. Is it falling apart? No, the universe is about balance. All the bad means there is
equal good. This is a time of new growth for spirit.

In the past only one or two people knew this or could find it. Think about all the great sages of the
past. We envy them but it was just them really. They didn’t have this large of a group.

Every religion or path promotes and talks of this Collective. We by nature are social creatures. We
need it or we die.

Tribal times it was a small band together. Today it is the world. This shows that we are getting better
at it. The internet has begun it. We are now on the cusp of really reaching out with it. FaceCrack is a
great example. Most people don’t like modern pop culture but it is working. We know what is
happening any moment almost anywhere.

We admire the ancients in their wisdom. We romanticize it. But was it that good? Well the info was
but usually it was one or two people really, or maybe at best a small group. Then you would have to
travel the world to fine anyone of like mind wanting to grow. And then it was just a chance. You
would walk, ride, or take a boat not for hours like we can, or days if you went “slow” but months or
years. Imagine telling the wife that you are going to go meet a friend and will be back later. She asks
when you say oh you know in a year or two at most. So while some did have this wisdom there was
no way for them to transmit it. This is why the Emerald tablet was written to hope that future men
would find it. Now we got the Secret on video! On FaceCrack!

Every tradition was about first you growing then helping the rest. Think of the elder helping the
initiate then the initiate helping the new guy and so on as they all grow. My tradition you had to ask
to learn. It wasn’t just given. I remember being told this is the hardest loneliest thing you will ever do.
I said yeah yeah right, heard that before Yoda. All in my mind of course. I was wrong Yoda was right.
I had to transform to something new. From that then I could help others. The only problem with that
was I could only help a few at a time. I could only take a few through the training I had had because
it was so intensive. This was the old way the tribal way. The tribes didn’t make it though. They lost
the war. They have faded. I could see that something more was needed. Me and my brothers and
sisters at that time begun to teach larger groups but it was never large enough. It never would be.
Eventually that group got lost and fell by the way. It was only through CIRCES and Masonry that I
could see how to access enough people to make a real difference. To be honest though CIRCES in
many regards accesses more. How do they do these groups do this? By using ancient traditions that
transformed over time to now. Not dogmatic but action based. Not belief but wisdom.

Belief= I believe I will go to heaven. I believe I am doing right

Wisdom= I know God. I have experienced it. I know truth/love and evil. With a capital T and E.

Why not right and wrong? Because these are subjective terms. Your right or wrong might not be
mine. But truth is truth and Evil is evil.

All systems start with the personal but then move to the group. But this goes back and forth. First
individual, they learn and join the group. The group initiates the individual. Then they take that
learning internally and develop it more and bring it back to the group. Over and over. This is the way
it should be. This is how we all evolve and grow. All for one and one for all!

Even indigenous cultures understood the need for this. The ultimate death was not being killed but
being expelled from the tribe. It was known you could not survive without the tribe. You would die a
slow lonely death.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t always happen. Look at today’s world. We are more “connected” than
ever before. But we are losing our ability to socialize. We are losing our filters of what is accepted in
communication. We have lost our identity. Most people use aliases. Most people are anonymous.
We are losing our humanity to this virtual connection. The internet is not a bad thing but we are
getting lost in it. Now the interesting thing is what the internet is doing. It is actually helping to bring
people back together. Look at us now. All over the globe and we are connecting. Groups such as
CIRCES and Masonry are growing daily because people are looking to fill that void they have. That
void of being alone in a crowd. Why are they alone? It is not because there is a lack of information or
chatter. It is because there is no spirit to this information or chatter. Nothing to feed the soul! This is
why initiations are so profound. They feed the soul. It was always funny to me that when I would do
a sweat lodge with people everyone would be apprehensive. They would tell me they don’t like hot
steam and can’t take it. But after the sweat was over every time everyone would have this huge
smile and ask when the next sweat was. Why? Because the physical got out of the way and the
spirit was fed. Doing these things actually feeds the spirit even more. Because it can connect to
other spirits and spin together thereby spinning faster.

Go into what the soul is and the connection to everything! Ego no ego! What does ego do? This is
really what this is all about. Understanding this embracing it and bringing it all together. Reunification
of you, your soul, your understanding, and consciousness with everything else. It starts with you but
must reach out.

Masonry talks about this in great detail if you can see it. The circle and point- The individual and the
all. Keeping our passions with in due bounds towards all mankind and especially our brethren. This
is all individual to the group. This is why I believe masonry has survived for so long. Taking good
men and making them better. What I have found in my study is that good men want to reach out to
others. We promise to help each other then it goes far and wide, to where masonry now gives over 2
million dollar every day to charities all over the world. This helping the one then helps the group and
ultimately the universe. I also believe this is why religion is having such problems. While they say
they are for the group they often get lost in protecting the solo idea to the exclusion of all else,
welcome war because you call the divine a different name or whatever. This then becomes a group
ego. Which shuts down the ability to reach out. It goes inward only.

I came into Masonry to understand a bit more of the western mystical. I had studied many other
cultures and pathways. I love masonry and the people and the groups I am part of and have found
from it. But I did not find enough of what I was looking for. So I kept going, Scottish Rite, York Rite,
and other things. They all had good information but lacked in my mind. In masonry we speak of
morals and codes. You make promises to keep them even. But you never really see what they are.
That is fine as I believe masonry is from an aristocracy where there was already a strong moral code.
But today that doesn’t exist like then.

That is where I found CIRCES has this wonderful Templar Moral Code. You don’t have to follow it
but it is a good place to start, to study. Then it helps you to build your own code. A code similar to
what the aristocracy had. To live by and demonstrate to the world. Why is this important? It builds
the individual and they build the group. Think about your past I am sure everyone has someone they
looked up to, a parent, grandparent, mentor, who ever. Why did you look up to them? They
demonstrated something you wanted to be more of. This is how a moral code works. You never
achieve it you always work on it. By doing this it helps you and others. People respond to it and want
to develop their own eventually. More people come around and want to be part of it. This is once
again the soul getting fed. For me CIRCES was very unique in that it was able to put into English
much of what I had studied in other languages or lack of language. It then added to all the paths I
have been walking.
