Al-Wirdul 'Aam The General Litany: A-'Ūdhu Billāhi Minash Shaytā-Nir Rajīm

‫َا ْل ِو ْر ُد ْالعَام‬
AL-WIRDUL ÀAM
THE GENERAL LITANY
1. Recite Once
‫هلل ِم َن ال َّ�ش ْي َط ِان ال َّر ِج ْ ِي‬

ِ ‫أ� ُع ْو ُذ ِب‬
A-`ŪDHU BILLĀHI MINASH SHAYTĀ-NIR RAJĪM
I seek refuge in Allah from Shaytan, the rejected one.
2. Recite Three Times
‫هللا ال َّر ْ َح ِن ال َّر ِح ْ ِي‬

ِ ‫بِ ْس ِم‬
BIS-MIL-LĀHIR RAHMĀ-NIR RAHĪM
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
3. Recite Once
ِ ‫َو مَا ُت َق ِّدم ُْوا ِ َأل ْن ُف ِس ُ ْك ِّمنْ َخ ْ ٍي َ ِت ُد ْو ُه ِع ْن َد‬

‫هللا‬
‫ُه َو َخ ْيًا َو أ� ْع َظ َم أ�جْ ًرا‬
‫َو ا ْ�س َت ْغ ِف ُروا هللا‬
َ ‫ِإ� ََّن‬
‫هللا َغ ُف ْو ٌر َّر ِح ْي‬

WA MĀ TUQAD-DIMŪ LI-ANFUSIKUM MIN KHAYRIN TAJIDŪHU
ÌNDAL-LĀHI, HUWA KHAYRAN WA AÀ-ZAMA AJRĀ, WAS-TAGH-
FIRUL- LĀH, INNAL-LĀHA GHAFŪRUR- RAHĪM
And whatever good you send forth for yourselves, you shall find it with
Allah, better & greater in reward. And seek the forgiveness of Allah, for
Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. [ Surah Al-Muzzammil, 73:20 ]
4. Recite 99 Times
َ ‫أ� ْ�س َت ْغ ِف ُر‬

‫هللا‬
AS-TAGH-FIRUL- LĀH
I seek the forgiveness of Allah.
5. Recite Once
َ ‫أ� ْ�س َت ْغ ِف ُر‬

‫هللا ْالع َِظ ْ َي َّ ِال ْي ل آ إ� َ َل إ� َّال ُه َو ْالحَ َّي ْال َق ُّي ْو َم‬
‫و أ� ُت ْو ُب إ�لَ ْي ِه‬
AS-TAGH-FIRUL- LĀHAL ÀZĪMAL- LA-DHĪ LA ILĀHA ILLĀ HUWAL-
HAYYAL- QAY-YŪMA WA ATŪBU ILAYH
I seek the forgiveness of Allah, the Most Great, other than whom there is
no god, the Living, the Self-subsisting Supporter of all, & I turn to Him in
Repentance.
6. Recite Once
‫هللا َو م ََال ِئ َك َت ُه يُصَ ُّل ْو َن ع ََل ال َّن ِ ِّب‬َ َّ‫إِ�ن‬

‫َي أ� ُّ َيا َّ ِال ْي َن � آ َم ُن ْوا صَ ُّل ْوا ع ََل ْي ِه َو سَ ِّلم ُْوا تَ ْس ِل ْي ًما‬
IN-NALLĀHA WA MALĀ-IKATAHU YUSALLŪNA ÀLAN- NABIY, YĀ AY-
YUHAL- LADHĪNA ĀMANŪ ŞALLŪ ÀLAYHI WA SAL-LIMŪ TASLĪMĀ

Verily Allah and His Angels send blessings on the Prophet: O you who
believe, send blessings on him and salute him with all respect.[ Surah Al-
Ahzab, 33:56 ]
7. Recite 99 Times
َ ِ ‫َالل ُه َّم صَ ِّل ع ََل َ�س ِّي ِد َن مُحَ َّم ٍد َع ْب ِد َك َو رَسُ ْو‬
‫ل ال َّن ِ ِّب‬
ْ َ ‫ُأال ِّم ّي َو ع ََل � آ ِ ِل َو‬
‫ص ِب ِه َو سَ ِّ ْل‬ ِ
ALLĀHUMMA ŞALLI ÀLĀ SAYYIDINĀ MUHAMMADIN ÀBDIKA
WA RASŪLIKAN- NABI- YIL- UMMIY, WA ÀLĀ ĀLIHI WA SAHBIHI
WA SALLIM
O Allah, bless our master Muhammad, Your Servant and Messenger, the
Unlettered Prophet, and his family and Companions, and grant them
peace.
8. Recite Once
َ ِ ‫َالل ُه َّم صَ ِّل ع ََل َ�س ِّي ِد َن مُحَ َّم ٍد َع ْب ِد َك َو رَسُ ْو‬
‫ل ال َّن ِ ِّب‬
‫ص ِب ِه َو سَ ِّ ْل تَ ْس ِل ْي ًما بِ َق ْد ِر َع َظ َم ِة‬
ْ َ ‫ُأال ِّم ّي َو ع ََل � آ ِ ِل َو‬
ِ
‫ك َو ْق ٍِت َو ِح ْ ٍي‬ ّ ُ ‫َذاتِ َك ْف‬
ِ ِ
ALLĀHUMMA ŞALLI ÀLĀ SAYYIDINAA MUHAMMADIN ÀBDIKA
WA RASŪLIKAN- NABI- YIL- UMMIY, WA ÀLĀ ĀLIHI WA SAHBIHII
WA SALLIM TASLĪMAN BI-QADRI ÀŻAMATI DHĀTIKA FĪ KULLI
WAQTIN WA HĪN
O Allah, bless our master Muhammad, Your Servant and Messenger, the
Unlettered Prophet, and his family and Companions, and grant them
peace, as greatly as the greatness of Your Being, at every moment & time

9. Recite Once :
‫َفاع َ ْْل أ�ن َّ ُه َال إ� َ َل إ� َّال هللا‬

FA`LAM ANNAHU LĀ ILĀHA IL-LAL-LĀH
Know, therefore, that there is no god but Allah.
[ Surah Muhammad, 47:19 ]
10. Recite 99 Times:
‫َال إ� َ َل إ� َّال هللا‬

LĀ ILĀHA IL-LAL-LĀH
There is no god but Allah.
11. Recite Once :
ُ ‫هللا صَ َّل‬
‫هللا ع ََل ْي ِه َو‬ ُ ‫َال إ� َ َل إ� َّال‬
ِ ‫هللا َ�س ِّي ُد َن مُحَ َّم ٌد رَسُ ْو ُل‬
ْ َ ‫ع ََل � آ ِ ِل َو‬
‫ص ِب ِه َو سَ َّ ْل‬
LA ILĀHA IL-LAL-LĀHU SAYYIDUNĀ MUHAMMADUR RASŪLUL-
LĀH, ŞALLAL-LĀHU ÀLAYHI WA ÀLĀ ĀLIHI WA SAHBIHI WA
SALLAM
There is no god but Allah, our Master Muhammad is the Messenger of

Allah, may the blessings of Allah be upon him and his family and his
Companions, and may He grant them peace.

12. Recite 3 Times: (Suratul Ikhlas)
‫هللا ال َّر ْ َح ِن ال َّر ِح ْ ِي‬

ِ ‫بِ ْس ِم‬
‫هللا أ�حَ ٌد‬ ُ ‫ُق ْل ُه َو‬
ُ ‫َا‬
‫هلل الصَّ َم ُد‬
‫لَ ْم ي ِ َْل َو لَ ْم ي ُْو َ ْل‬
‫َو لَ ْم يَ ُكنْ َّ ُل ُك ُف ًوا أ�حَ ٌد‬
BISMIL-LĀHIR- RAHMĀ-NIR RAHĪM
QUL HUWAL- LĀHU AHAD, ALLĀHUŞ- ŞAMAD,
LAM YALID WA LAM YŪLAD, WA LAM YAKUL- LAHŪ
KUFUWAN AHAD
Say: He is Allah, the One; Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; He
begets not, nor is He begotten; And there is none like unto
Him. [ Surah Al-Ikhlas, 112: 1-4 ]
13. Recite Once: (Suratul Fatihah)
‫هللا ال َّر ْ َح ِن ال َّر ِح ْ ِي‬ ِ ‫بِ ْس ِم‬

‫ل َر ِّب ْالعَالَ ِم ْ َي‬ ِ َّ ِ ‫َا ْلحَ ْم ُد‬
‫َال َّر ْح ِن ال َّر ِح ْ ِي‬
ِّ ‫مال ي َْوم‬
‫ادل ْي ِن‬ ِ ِِ

‫َاط ا ْلم ُْ�س َت ِق ْ َي‬
َ ‫الص‬ ِّ ‫إ� َّي َك نَ ْع ُب ُد َو إ� َّي َك نَ ْ�س َت ِع ْ ُي ْاه ِد َن‬
َ ‫ِص‬
‫َاط َّ ِال ْي َن أ� ْن َع ْم َت ع ََل ْ ِي ْم َغ ْ ِي ْال َم ْغ ُض ْو ِب ع ََل ْ ِي ْم‬
َ ‫َو َال‬
‫ � آ ِم ْي‬. ‫الض�آلِّ ْ َي‬
BISMIL-LĀHIR- RAHMĀ-NIR RAHĪM
ALHAMDU LIL-LĀHI RABBIL- `ĀLAMĪN, AR-RAHMĀ-NIR-RAHĪM,
MĀLIKI YAWMID- DĪN, IY-YĀKA NA`BUDU WA IY-YĀKA NASTA`ĪN,
IH-DINAŞ- ŞIRĀTAL MUSTAQĪM, ŞIRĀTAL LADHĪNA ANÀMTA
ÀLAYHIM, GHAYRIL MAGH-DŪBI ÀLAYHIM WA LAD-DĀLLĪN.
AMEEN.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All Praise is for Allah, Lord of the Worlds.
Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
Master of the Day of Judgement.
You (alone) we worship; & You (alone) we ask for help.
Guide us to the Straight Path.
The Path of those upon whom You Have bestowed Your Grace, Not (the
Path) of those who earn Your anger (wrath), Nor of those who go astray.
[ Surah Al-Fatihah, 1:1-7 ]
Make du'a for our noble Shaykh, your parents, your fellow
murids, whoever else you want and for yourself.
