The VRF Smart Gateway provides:

building automation system

VRF Smart Gateway Configuration UI
 The VRF Smart Gateway includes a Wi-Fi antenna and acts like a
Wi-Fi access point. The device can be configured using any Wi-Fi
capable device such as a laptop, smartphone, or tablet.

Current VRF Integration into Metasys
• Smart Gateway adapter is discovered on the

BACnet IP integration and mapped in as the only
device of the whole VRF system
• All points from all units are mapped in as a flat list –

not usable since there is no separation or
organization by indoor unit or space
• Each point must then have unique names, item

references, and BACnet object identifiers which
rules out aliasing when used with Metasys features
such as Graphics, Tailored Summaries, and
Metasys UI.

• Individual indoor and outdoor units are discoverable on the

BACnet IP integration and mapped in as individual
devices.
• The individual indoor and outdoor units are named while

configuring the VRF Smart Gateway using the gateway’s
web UI. The names are stored in the gateway and passed
over BACnet IP as part of the device discovery process in
Metasys. If standard naming conventions are used, the
devices will appear as a nice list as shown.
• Points from each unit are mapped and organized by

device. The set of points for each device have the same
set of names and item references which will support
aliasing when using Metasys features such as Graphics,
Tailored Summaries, and Metasys UI.
