Export Sales Highlights
This summary is based on reports from exporters for the period April 3-9, 2020.
Wheat: Net sales of 178,300 metric tons for 2019/2020 were down 31 percent from the previous week and 49 percent from the prior 4-week average.
Increases primarily for Mexico (84,700 MT, including decreases of 1,900 MT), China (55,000 MT), Ecuador (32,900 MT, including 31,000 MT switched
from unknown destinations), Brazil (30,000 MT), and unknown destinations (20,400 MT), were offset by reductions primarily for Peru (35,000 MT), South
Korea (19,000 MT), and Chile (14,500 MT). For 2020/2021, net sales of 419,400 MT primarily for China (110,000 MT), Japan (93,900 MT), unknown
destinations (82,700 MT), and Thailand (59,500 MT), were offset by reductions for Honduras (2,000 MT). Exports of 720,900 MT--a marketing-year
high--were up 90 percent from the previous week and up noticeably from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to the Philippines
(120,600 MT), Mexico (116,300 MT), Nigeria (97,100 MT), South Korea (66,000 MT), and Japan (60,100 MT).
Corn: Net sales of 906,600 MT for 2019/2020 were down 51 percent from the previous week and 36 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases
primarily for Japan (290,100 MT, including 39,200 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 3,400 MT), Mexico (206,400 MT, including
decreases of 8,800 MT), Colombia (134,200 MT, including 78,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), unknown destinations (125,400 MT), and
Saudi Arabia (65,000 MT), were offset by reductions primarily for Jamaica (22,000 MT), South Korea (7,000 MT), and the French West Indies (6,600
MT). For 2020/2021, net sales of 62,900 MT were primarily for unknown destinations (30,000 MT), Jamaica (22,000 MT), and Canada (10,200 MT).
Exports of 1,222,100 MT were down 5 percent from the previous week, but up 12 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily
to Mexico (348,800 MT), Japan (262,100 MT), South Korea (254,200 MT), Colombia (175,100 MT), and the Dominican Republic (61,200 MT).
Optional Origin Sales: For 2019/2020, new optional origin sales of 130,000 MT were for South Korea. The current outstanding balance of 711,000 MT is
for South Korea (651,000 MT) and Israel (60,000 MT).
Barley: No net sales or exports for 2019/2020 were reported for the week.
Sorghum: Net sales of 74,300 MT for 2019/2020 resulting in increases for China (137,800 MT, including 131,000 MT switched from unknown
destinations), South Korea (53,000 MT), and Japan (10,000 MT), were offset by reductions primarily for unknown destinations (126,300 MT). Exports of
147,000 MT were up noticeably from the previous week and up 72 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were to China (135,800 MT)
and Mexico (11,300 MT).
Rice: Net sales of 33,300 MT for 2019/2020 were down 24 percent from the previous week and 43 percent from the prior 4-week average.
Increases primarily for Honduras (11,200 MT), Saudi Arabia (6,100 MT), Panama (3,500 MT), Canada (2,500 MT), and Guatemala (2,000 MT),
were offset by reductions for Japan (700 MT) and Haiti (300 MT). Exports of 117,700 MT were up 32 percent from the previous week and 98 percent
from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to Haiti (30,300 MT), Turkey (26,300 MT), Colombia (24,600 MT), Japan (15,000 MT),
and El Salvador (5,300 MT).
Soybeans: Net sales of 244,700 MT for 2019/2020--a marketing-year low--were down 53 percent from the previous week and 68 percent from the prior 4-
week average. Increases primarily for Egypt (114,100 MT, including 115,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 3,900 MT), Japan
(38,900 MT, including 9,200 MT switched from unknown destinations), Mexico (22,400 MT, including decreases of 1,900 MT), Indonesia (16,000 MT),
and Colombia (14,700 MT, including 7,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 500 MT), were offset by reductions for unknown
destinations (2,300 MT) and Nepal (500 MT). For 2020/2021, total net sales of 60,000 MT were for unknown destinations. Exports of 525,000 MT were
up 45 percent from the previous week and 9 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to Egypt (236,200 MT), Mexico
(122,900 MT), China (68,900 MT), Indonesia (17,700 MT), and Japan (17,400 MT).
Exports for Own Account: For 2019/2020, the current exports for own account outstanding balance is 2,100 MT, all Canada.
Soybean Cake and Meal: Net sales of 158,700 MT for 2019/2020 were down 18 percent from the previous week and 2 percent from the prior 4-week
average. Increases primarily for Ecuador (33,200 MT, including 3,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Morocco (30,900 MT), unknown
destinations (27,000 MT), Canada (23,800 MT), and Colombia (8,900 MT), were offset by reductions for Mexico (7,000 MT), the French West Indies
(5,700 MT), Nicaragua (1,400 MT), and Nepal (1,000 MT). Exports of 194,900 MT were down 29 percent from the previous week and 31 percent from
the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to Vietnam (44,700 MT), Canada (33,600 MT), Mexico (22,900 MT), Colombia (18,700 MT),
and Morocco (17,900 MT).
Soybean Oil: Net sales of 21,200 MT for 2019/2020 were primarily for Guatemala (5,800 MT), Mexico (5,700 MT), South Korea (4,000 MT), Costa Rica
(3,000 MT), and Colombia (2,500 MT, including decreases of 2,000 MT). Exports of 18,400 MT were up noticeably from the previous week, but down 38
percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to South Korea (12,000 MT) and Mexico (5,800 MT).
Cotton: Net sales reductions of 183,800 RB for 2019/2020--a marketing-year low--were greater than the previous weeks reductions, but down noticeably
from the prior 4-week average. Increases primarily for Malaysia (36,600 RB), Turkey (17,400 RB), Bangladesh (8,700 RB), Taiwan (1,700 RB), and
South Korea (1,200 RB, including decreases of 4,500 RB), were more than offset by reductions primarily for Vietnam (138,700 RB), China (82,000 RB),
and Pakistan (23,000 RB). For 2020/2021, net sales of 71,800 RB were primarily for Vietnam (35,700 RB), Mexico (20,000 RB), Thailand (7,500 RB),
Turkey (4,400 RB), and South Korea (3,200 MT). Exports of 312,000 RB were down 36 percent from the previous week and 24 percent from the prior 4-
week average. Exports were primarily to Vietnam (89,600 RB), China (58,800 RB), Bangladesh (43,100 RB), Pakistan (30,900 RB), and Turkey (23,300
RB). No net sales of Pima were reported this week. Exports of 18,800 RB were down 44 percent from the previous week and 17 percent from the prior 4-
week average. The destinations were primarily to China (8,500 RB), Peru (3,100 RB), India (1,600 RB), Pakistan (1,500 RB), and Vietnam (1,500 RB).
Exports for Own Account: For 2019/2020, new exports for own account totaling 300 RB were to Pakistan. The current exports for own account
outstanding balance of 29,000 RB is for Indonesia (17,200 RB), Bangladesh (6,500 RB), China (2,500 RB), India (1,700 RB), Pakistan (400 RB), Malaysia
(400 RB), and Vietnam (300 RB).
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 695,800 pieces for 2020 were down 19 percent from the previous week, but up 19 percent from the prior 4-week average.
Increases primarily for China (620,500 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 8,500 pieces), South Korea (43,300 whole cattle hides, including decreases
of 600 pieces), Turkey (23,500 whole cattle hides), Japan (4,200 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 200 pieces), and Mexico (2,000 whole cattle
hides, including decreases of 2,500 pieces), were offset by reductions for Taiwan (400 whole cattle hides). Additionally, there were net sales reductions
reported for Italy (2,100 calf skins) and Belgium (100 kip skins). Exports of 411,600 pieces reported for 2020 were up 2 percent from the previous week and
13 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports were primarily to China (297,400 pieces), South Korea (42,300 pieces), Indonesia
(24,700 pieces), Thailand (14,900 pieces), and Mexico (11,700 pieces). In addition, there were exports to Belgium (2,700 kip skins).
Net sales of 27,800 wet blues for 2020 were down 79 percent from the previous week and 71 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported
for Italy (23,500 unsplit), China (4,300 unsplit), Thailand (100 unsplit and decreases of 100 grain splits), and Taiwan (100 grain splits). Exports of 55,100
wet blues for 2020 were down 54 percent from the previous week and 60 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were to Italy (24,800
unsplit and 2,200 grain splits), Thailand (20,700 unsplit), China (6,000 unsplit), Hong Kong (800 unsplit), and Taiwan (600 unsplit). Total net sales of
16,100 splits were for Vietnam. Exports of 329,900 pounds were to Vietnam (322,700 pounds) and China (7,200 pounds).
Beef: Net sales of 20,200 MT reported for 2020 were up 28 percent from the previous week and 16 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases
primarily for Japan (9,500 MT, including decreases of 600 MT), South Korea (5,200 MT, including decreases of 600 MT), Hong Kong (3,200 MT, including
decreases of 100 MT), China (1,500 MT), and Taiwan (700 MT, including decreases of 100 MT), were offset by reductions primarily for Canada (200 MT),
Mexico (100 MT), and Vietnam (100 MT). Exports of 16,700 MT were down 6 percent from the previous week and 2 percent from the prior 4-week
average. The destinations were primarily to Japan (6,700 MT), South Korea (4,300 MT), Taiwan (1,500 MT), Canada (1,100 MT), and Hong Kong (1,100
MT).
Pork: Net sales of 45,700 MT reported for 2020 were down 18 percent from the previous week, but up 9 percent from the prior 4-week average.
Increases were primarily for China (16,400 MT), Mexico (13,000 MT), South Korea (4,500 MT), Japan (4,300 MT), and Canada (3,000 MT). Exports of
36,600 MT were down 4 percent from the previous week and 14 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to China (18,400
MT), Mexico (4,900 MT), Japan (4,500 MT), South Korea (2,800 MT), and Canada (1,700 MT).
