Description
Oleum 65% and 25% is a colourless to off-white fuming liquid with a strong odour. It is miscible in
water and reacts violently with water.

Intermediate for chemicals and dyes

Storage and handling


Keep containers closed. Store in a dry and well-ventilated location away from combustibles,
oxidisers, bases or metallic powders. Storage tanks should be protected from water ingress and
maintained structurally in a safe and reliable condition. Wear appropriate personal protective
equipment (PPE). Use only with adequate ventilation. Do not breathe sprays or mists and wash
hands thoroughly after handling. Do not allow the product to get into the eyes, on skin or on clothing.
Individuals working with this chemical should be properly trained regarding its hazards and safety.
Always refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for detailed information on storage and handling.

Safety
Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as goggles, full-body suit, safety shoes and gloves.
Always wear a self-contained breathing apparatus or a full-face airline respirator to avoid inhalation
of the product. Prevent breathing of mist or vapours. Prevent contact with skin, eyes and clothing.
Ensure adequate ventilation. Always refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for detailed information
on safety.

First aid
Eye contact: Immediately flush eyes with running water for at least 20 minutes. If irritation persists,
repeat flushing. Get immediate medical aid.

Skin contact: Wash affected area(s) with running water for at least 20 minutes. If irritation persists,
repeat flushing. If medical treatment is delayed, immerse the affected area(s) in cold water.
Remove contaminated clothing and wash thoroughly before reuse. Get immediate medical aid.

Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. If the person is alert and not convulsing, rinse mouth and give
½ to 1 glass of water to dilute material. If spontaneous vomiting occurs, have the person lean
forward with the head down to avoid breathing in. Get immediate medical aid.

Inhalation: Shift the person to fresh air. If the person is not breathing, give artificial respiration.
If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Call a physician.

Spills and disposal


Personnel handling this material should be thoroughly trained to handle spills and releases. In case
of spills, dike by using absorbent or impervious materials such as sand or clay. Stop leakage if
possible without risk. Flush spilled area with water and neutralise the site with soda ash, sodium
bicarbonate or lime. Do not allow it to contaminate the groundwater system. Waste must be
disposed of in accordance with federal, state or local regulations, as applicable.
