EXERCISE 3: SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING

The aim of this module is to enable learners to apply social media concepts and best practices to
both organic and paid marketing activities on key platforms, in order to run successful
campaigns that yield ROI and meet business objectives. The Practical Exercise associated with
this module includes five tasks: -

Task 1 – Create a Facebook Carousel Ad


The first task requires the learner to move potential customers to the Consideration stage by
targeting them effectively using paid Facebook ads and driving them to a given website, based
on the scenario details provided in the exercise.

Learning Objectives: -
 Identify the campaign objectives on Facebook that can be aligned with specific stages of
the buyer's journey
 Differentiate between the paid targeting options available to Facebook advertisers
 Launch paid ad campaigns using best practices with Facebook Ads Manager
 Manage Facebook ad campaigns using paid advertising tools

Step 1: In the Scenario page, read the scenario and then select the first task, Create a Facebook
Carousel ad, from your Task List
Step 2: In the Task 1 – Create a Facebook Carousel Ad page, read the task details and then select
Begin when you are ready to start
Step 3: In Facebook Ads Manager, select the + Create button to start the campaign
Step 4: Complete the quiz activity by choosing the most appropriate campaign objective from
the list on screen
Step 5: Enter an appropriate and recognizable name for your campaign into the Campaign
Name field and then select the Next (>) button in the bottom-right corner of the screen to move
forward
Step 6: In the Create new ad set form, enter an appropriate name for your Ad Set into the field
and then select the Next (>) button in the bottom-right corner of the screen
Step 7: Complete the quiz question by identifying the correct destination for the traffic you wish
to generate with this campaign and then select the Continue button
Step 8: In the Audience form, enter Australia into the Locations field, enter 18 and 25 in the Age
fields, choose Women in the Gender field, and then select Select the Next (>) button in the
bottom-right corner of the screen
Step 9: In the Placements form, choose Automatic placements (recommended) to enable
automatic ad placement on the Facebook network and then select Select the Next (>) button in
the bottom-right corner of the screen
Step 10: In the Budget & schedule form, choose Daily budget in the Select budget dropdown
menu, enter 40 into the Budget field and choose the Set a start and end date radio button to
enable you to schedule the campaign to run for 7 days
Step 11: Enter your required start date and time and a date seven days later for the campaign
end date and time, and then select Select the Next (>) button in the bottom-right corner of the
screen
Step 12: In the Identity page, choose Organic BewT in the Select Page dropdown menu and then
select Select the Next (>) button in the bottom-right corner of the screen
Step 13: In the Format page, choose a Carousel ad format and then select Select the Next (>)
button in the bottom-right corner of the screen
Step 14: In the Links page, enter succinct engaging ad copy in the Text field, tick the
Automatically show the best performing cards first checkbox in the Cards field, select the
Image radio button and then choose the Select Image button
Step 15: In the Image library, choose the Billabong Body Butter JPEG file and select the
Confirm button
Step 16: Back in the Links page, enter a short, engaging headline (< 40 characters), enter a short
description (< 20 characters), enter www.organicbewt.au/products as the URL for the landing
page, choose Shop Now for the CTA, and then select Select the Next (>) button in the bottom-
right corner of the screen
Step 17: Review the Carousel ad to ensure you are happy with the details and then select the
Next button to complete this task

Task 2 – Customize a Twitter Profile


The second task requires the learner to update a Twitter profile in support of a new campaign to
increase brand awareness for new products, based on scenario details provided in the exercise.

Learning Objectives: -
 Use the core features, tools and guidelines for optimizing and organically posting on
Twitter
 Customize a Twitter account

Step 1: In the Scenario page, review the scenario again and then select the second task,
Customize our Twitter Profile from your Task List
Step 2: In the Task 2 – Customize our Twitter profile page, read the task details and then select
Begin when you are ready to start the task
Step 3: Select the Edit Profile button in the Organic BewT Twitter page and then choose Change
your header photo
Step 4: Choose the Upload photo option and the Sun Kissed Sheila Moisturizer header image
and then choose the Select button
Step 5 In the Twitter profile page, enter a succinct but informative bio (< 160 characters) into the
Bio field, enter Melbourne, Australia into the Location field, enter www.organicbewt.au into the
URL field, select the Theme color button, choose the Orange theme color and then select the
Save Profile button
Step 6: Review the updated company Twitter profile to ensure you are happy and then select the
Next (>) button in the bottom right corner to complete this task

Task 3 – Create a LinkedIn Company Page
This task requires the learner to create a LinkedIn Company Page that aligns with best practice,
based on the scenario details provided in the exercise.

Learning Objectives: -
 Create an optimized Company Page on LinkedIn
 Use the core features, tools and guidelines to post effectively on LinkedIn

Step 1: In the Scenario page, review the scenario again and then select the third task, Create a
LinkedIn Company page from your Task List
Step 2: In the Task 3 – Create a LinkedIn Company page, read the task details and then select
Begin when you are ready to start the task
Step 3: Select the Work button in the LinkedIn top-level menu bar and then choose the Create a
Company Page menu option
Step 4: Enter Organic BewT into the Company Name field, select the I verify that I am the
official representative… checkbox, and then choose the Create Page button
Step 5: Choose the Update cover image button, select your preferred cover image from the
Image library, and then choose the Select button
Step 6: Choose the Logo placeholder, select the Company Logo from the Image library, and
then choose the Select button
Step 7: Enter an informative company description (< 2000 characters) into the About Us field and
then select Select the Next (>) button in the bottom-right corner of the screen
Step 8: In the Company Overview page, enter skincare and beauty into the Specialties field, enter
www.organicbewt.au into the URL field, choose 11- 50 Employees in the Company Size
dropdown menu, select Health, Wellness, & Fitness in the Industry dropdown menu, enter
2020 as the year founded, choose Privately Held as the company type, and then select the +Add
location button
Step 9: Enter Marina House into the Build Name field, enter 123 Main Street, Melbourne into the
Exact Address field, choose the Save button and then select the Next (>) button in the bottom-
right corner of the screen to move forward to the next task

Task 4 – Promote a Post on Instagram
This task requires the learner to promote a post using Instagram to help drive traffic to a
company website, based on the scenario details provided in the exercise.

Learning Objectives: -
 Create an impactful, fully optimized Instagram post
 Use the core features and tools of Instagram with best practice to promote a post

Step 1: In the Scenario page, review the scenario again and then select the fourth task, Promote
post on Instagram from your Task List
Step 2: In the Task 4 – Promote post on Instagram page, read the task details and then select
Begin when you are ready to start the task
Step 3: Select the Promote button on the Organic BewT Instagram post and then review each of
the images in the library before choosing the Happy Straya Day image as the most appropriate
choice for the Australia Day sale promotion
Step 4: Select the Create Promotion arrowhead icon, choose the most appropriate campaign
goal to complete the quiz activity, and select the Outcome arrowhead icon to move forward
Step 5: In the Review screen, select the > icon for the Destination field, enter
www.organicbewt.au as the website URL and then select the Outcome arrowhead icon to
confirm the location
Step 6: In the Review screen, select the Action Button > icon, choose the Shop Now radio
button and then select the Outcome arrowhead icon to confirm the CTA
Step 7: In the Review screen, select the Budget > icon, choose the $16 radio button in the Total
Budget field, select the 1 day radio button in the Duration field, and then select the Audience
arrowhead icon
Step 8: If you are happy with your settings, choose the Create Promotion button to complete
this task

Task 5 – Create a Custom Snapchat Story
This task requires the learner to create an engaging custom Geo Story on Snapchat to help drive
foot traffic to a bricks-and-mortar store, based on the scenario details provided in the exercise.

Learning Objectives: -
 Use the core features and tools of Snapchat to create a custom Story
 Use best practices to create an impactful, compelling and fully optimized marketing
message using Snapchat

Step 1: In the Scenario page, review the scenario again and then select the fifth task, Create a
custom Snapchat story from your Task List
Step 2: In the Task 5 – Create a custom Snapchat story page, read the task details and then
select Begin when you are ready to start the task
Step 3: Select the Bitmoji on the top-left of the video screen and then choose the Create New
Story button in Snapchat
Step 4: In the New Story screen, choose Geo Story, enter Straya Day @ Organic BewT as the Geo
Story title, accept the default Geofence location and dimensions, select the Friends of friends
radio button to define the target audience, choose Auto-Save to Memories and then select the
Create Story button
Step 5: Select the Camera (or Circle) button to start creating a new Snap and then choose the
Cards icon to add pre-existing media to it
Step 6: In Memories, choose the Straya Day Sale promo video and then select Options
(represented by three vertical dots on the top-right of the screen) and Edit Snap
Step 7: Select the Paperclip icon on the right of the screen, enter www.organicbewt.au into the
URL field to drive people to the website, and then choose the Attach to Snap button to add the
media
Step 8: Select the Add to Story button (the second icon from the left at the bottom of the
screen), choose the Straya Day @ Organic BewT Geo Story and select the Create (>) button to
complete the task
Step 9: Select the Finish Module button in the bottom-right corner of the screen to close the
Exercise and complete the module
