    Application: The Xpression colour selection was developed with the aim of being able to offer
    attractive colour decors in a thermal curing range of 150°C to 200°C. Users of
    Xpression colours are increasingly demanding excellent dishwasher resistance of
    the decal decorations on glass, porcelain and other ceramic materials.
    We are doing our utmost to meet these wishes with our new product
    Primer 80 4516.
    A 3 % hydrous solution is produced from 80 4516 for this purpose.
    This product guarantees good surface wetting of the active ingredient on the
    substrate and therefore later on a good adhesion of the Xpression decor on the
    substrate.
    Printing properties: When using this additive certain processing instructions must be observed.
    Before the decal is applied, the area to be decorated is pretreated with a 3 %
    hydrous solution of additive 80 4516. We recommend to use distilled water. The
    ready solution can be stored for a maximum of 2 month.
    Prior to application of the decal the 80 4516 is applied to the decoration area using a
    sponge or brush. The decals are then applied to this treated area using the wet on-
    wet technique and rubbed on using a squeegee, carefully removing all water
    beneath the decal. It is essential to then wipe down the decorated surface, to
    prevent permanent residues which may form from the primer. After the decals have
    dried for the usual recommended length of time, the strippable coating is removed.
    After removing the strippable coat it is recommended to wipe down the decorated
    area again removing any residues from the transfer paper coating and from the
    Primer.

    The Primer 80 4516 is alkaline and should thus be applied wearing gloves and
    suitable protective goggles.
    Drying: Afterwards, the decorated articles are dried for at least 60 minutes at 40 °C or for 24
    hours at room temperature.
    After the drying process the coating on top of the decal (strippable coating 80 2039)
    is removed completely. Only the high-grade decoration remains on the object.
    After the thermal curing the adhesion according to the Norm DIN EN ISO 2409 from
    0 to 1 is given.

    Thermal curing: In combination with the 2C- Protective Coat 80 4542 the thermal curing is not
    necessary.
    Together with the overprinted 1C-Protective Coat 80 4540 should be cured:
    30 min. at 160°C; 20 min. at 180°C or approx. 15 min. at 200°C
    Miscibility: The Primer 80 4516 can not be mixed with or added to any paste of the Xpression-
    series.
    Application errors: As the effectiveness of the additive 80 4516 is dependend on the used substrate we
    recommend to test beforehand.
    The additive improves the sratch and dishwasher resistance already without thermal
    curing. This effect will be much more intensive after thermal curing.
    Storage: 80 4516 be stored in a dry place at room temperature (15-25 °C). Always seal
    opened drums carefully, making sure they are airtight if possible, as the contents of
    opened drums react with the humidity.
